The stage was set for Redsox vs Yankees. Fights breaking out across the stadium. Up in the bleeds, Two New Yorkers had to settle a score of who was more NY - The Brooklyn Guy or the Staten Island Guy. They both got kicked out, but i guess the Shaolin guy (above) prevailed as he returned to his seats 3 innings later to find his buddies gone. Yanks 6 - Sox 2. 2 Run shot from Arod for his 18th of the season and Giambi with a Solo HR. Chien Ming Wang lasted 6 Decent innings and the bullpen pulled through.
I should preface today's photo by saying that I have a complete and irrational hatred of the Boston Red Sox. It is irrational because no Boston fan (or player for that matter) has ever harmed me personally. But, I hate them. I hate them so much I will preface some unfortunate things by saying "I hate this almost as much as I hate the Boston Red Sox".
OK, now with that out of the way:
Last night, Wednesday the 28th of September, was perhaps the greatest night of regular season baseball I have ever seen...ever.
At the start of September, the Boston Red Sox had a win-loss record that was nine games better than the Tampa Bay Rays. Over the past month, Boston lost and lost and lost while Tampa won and won. Last night, game 162 of a 162 game season, found Boston and Tampa with a dead even record of 91 wins and 71 losses. Boston was to play Baltimore (68-93, worst in their division) and Tampa had to play my Yankees (97-64).
To type out everything that happened would be like a Ph.D chapter, but thankfully a distraught Red Sox fan has already done so:

The highlights are that in the bottom of the ninth, against the pitcher Boston fans think is Mr. Automatic, this happened:

Three minutes later, after fighting back from being down 0-7 and sending the game to extra innings, Tampa's batter did this in the bottom of the 12th:

What does this mean? It means the Red Sox have committed the worst September collapse in the entire history of Major League Baseball. It is ... ambrosia for any Yankee fan. The purifying flame of success has purged the filth from this year's playoffs. Let me taste your tears Boston fans, the sweet sweet tears of unfathomable sadness.
As something of an afterthought, a man who works at the University ( a Mets fan ), once said, "You know, I find myself no longer really rooting for my team, but rather against the teams I dislike. You think that's a problem?" No, I have no problem with this position, except that you can never root against the team that put you out. If your team lost (fair and square) then you CANNOT root against them. This is something Twins fans never seem to understand.
