Republic YRF-84F "Ficon"

The YRF-84F was the prototype of the standard USAF F-84F

"Thunderstreak." Originally designated the YF-96A, it consisted

of an F-84E "Thunderjet" fuselage with swept-back wings, and

tail. As the YF-96A, it made its initial flight on June 3, 1950.

Durning the early 1950s' the Air force decided to conduct experi-

ments on the feasibility of B-36's carrying fighter aircraft sus-

pended under the bellies. This would not only provide the

bomber with its own fighter protection, but would make it pos-

sible for the bomber to carry the fighters long distances to a

combat zone. Upon reaching the edge of an enemy's territory,

the fighter would be released to conduct reconnaissance or

bombing missions on its own.

The YF-96a, redisgnated the YRF-84F "Ficon" (contraction of

"Fighter" and "Conveyor"), was modified so that it could be car-

ried by a B-36. As the FICON, it made its first flight on March

30, 1953. However, subsequent development of mid-air refuel-

ing for range extension of fighter aircraft proved so successful

that expirements wirth parasite fighters were discontinued.

Once again people will get an opportunity to watch the movie Bunty Aur Babli remake. People can now watch out the new version of Yash Raj Films super hit comedy drama “Bunty Aur Babli” featuring Rani Mukerji and Abhishek bachchan in 2005. Gully Boy star Siddhant Chaturvedi and the new actress Sharvari will be seen in the sequel of the old film Bunty Aur Babli. YRF discovered Sharvari last year and has been grooming her since then. Bunty Aur Babli 2 will be directed by Varun Sharma, who worked as an Assistant Director for Yash Raj productions such as Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. The YRF statement adds that Bunty Aur Babli 2 has taken a time bound of over 10 years over the first arrival of the film Bunty Aur Babli.

Director Varun Sharma said, Sharvari is an extremely special actress to watch out for, when he was talking about casting a fresh face – actress Sharvari. She is a powerful performer and one has to watch her on-screen to understand what we mean. Given the film and the roles, they both are definitely the perfect casting. They are a fresh, hot pair and their chemistry and energy one can feel it, says Varun, who is also the writer of the sequel.About casting Siddhant in his first ever film, Varun Sharma said: “Bunty Aur Babli 2 is completely connected to today’s time. Siddhant as we know had already caught everyone’s eye with his brilliant acting in his first film Gully Boy and scored his place in the heart of the nation. We are very excited to have him play the role of Bunty. He is a wonderful actor, is extremely appealing and he fits the role completely.

Earlier this year, a report was stated by Pinkvilla that the original Bunty and Babli – Abhishek and Rani – will also feature in the new version with the same casting, but “the new Bunty Aur Babli, the second instalment will not have just Rani and Abhishek. There will be two pairs of actors with a jodi from the younger generation of actors. It will be a mark of the two main leads from the original. The story has been written in such a way that it requires two leading pairs. But, it needs to be seen if Amitabh Bachchan also raises his role in the sequel.

This will be produced by Aditya Chopra, the shooting schedule of Bunty Aur Babli has already initiated.

The museum’s YRF-84F participated in two U.S. Air Force experimental programs, the development of the F-84F fighter-bomber and later testing of the “parasite” fighter concept.

The museum’s YRF-84F was the prototype of the F-84F Thunderstreak, which became a standard USAF fighter-bomber in the 1950s (an F-84F is on display in the museum's Cold War Gallery). Consisting of an F-84E Thunderjet fuselage with swept-back wings and tail, it made its initial flight in June 1950.

In 1951 it was modified into the YRF-84F FICON ("FIghter CONveyor"), and first flew in this configuration in March 1953. The concept envisioned carrying a “parasite” aircraft under (and partially enclosed within) a B-36 as a way to extend fighter range. When needed, the fighter was lowered on a boom and released to protect the bomber or to conduct reconnaissance or bombing missions on its own. After completing its mission, the fighter would return to the B-36.

"Ficon" stands for Fighter Conveyor, a 1950s USAF project to test the feasibility of a Convair B-36 Peacemaker bomber carrying a Republic RF-84K Thunderflash parasite fighter in its bomb bay. This particular aircraft was originally designated YF-96A, and was the prototype of the standard F-84F Thunderstreak. The Ficon program was cancelled in 1956, due to the B-36 having become obsolete and the advent of aircraft such as the U-2.

A movie made for fun and entertainment. It has no logic no sense, just a lot of fun. GAVIN ZINDA HAI is a standalone script and has nothing related to the ‘TIGER’ series by YRF. It’s not a spoof to Tiger Zinda hai. The music used in the film does not belong to us, it belongs to their respective owners. The film comes out on 22nd January.
