Cyclone Idai's death toll is now over 700 as the cyclone hammered Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. This is what happens when you turn up the intensity of storms as the result of climate change. Over 2,000,000 people have been impacted. Mozambique alone had over 30,000 homes destroyed and 500,000 hectares of crops damaged.
In total - hundreds of thousands of people now find themselves in need of food, water and shelter. Most will be able to rebuild with aid but many will need to go somewhere else. Refugees in search of a safe place to exist. We all know how this global wave of nationalists think about refugees. This is only the start of the problem.
This young kids at the Youth Climate strike give me hope. They understand what is at stake and what needs to be done. The real battle for our survival is them against the deep hatred and ignorance that our culture is turning into. Best of luck to them.

While building this I was listening to an album called dubnobasswithmyheadman by Underworld (still one of my favourites) and it took me back to a time at uni when I bought this album, grabbed a six pack and poured my childhood Lego collection on the floor for my first build in years. That album just celebrated its 20 year anniversary and the original Lego collection was lost long ago (pitty it was full of 70s Lego and most of the first series of space). I might not have my youth any more but at least I still have my creativity and a youthful love for Lego.

NYC again! This was taken from the Manhattan bridge, and the view from here is like this. To me, this is the best spot to get a grand view of downtown. Of course, the only reason I went there was to take pictures of the city, but as I was packing up after taking my intended pictures, I turned around and noticed this colorful graffiti. It's amazing how uplifting a dose of vivid colors can be :)
(I figured I might get all monochrome-ish once I get old. So to celebrate the spirit of my youth, I went overboard with this funky processing! HDR made from 8 exposures. Added some glow (Nik Software) on the lights, and added red tint to the fences at the bottom.)

I took this photograph at the "Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous 2016" historical re-enactment festival held at Vincennes. Indiana, U.S.A. in the springtime.
A winner horseman, a winged figure, perhaps Victory, and birds.
A nude male figure on horseback to right with a floral ornament on his head. He has long hair, and holds a goad in right hand and reins in Left. Behind him is a winged female figure flying towards him, with long hair, short fringed chiton, and a wreath in either hand. On the horse's neck is perched a water-bird, and in front is an eagle flying to left; between the horse's legs are three water-fowl of varying size, and in the exergue is a pattern of lotus-flowers.

Today was Youth Sunday where the confirmation class does most of the service including the sermon. Like an Idiot I forgot to put my Nikon in the camera bag and was stuck with my iPhone. So the pictures are not as clear.

On the left, an lonic column supporting a sphinx which leans towards a youth sitting on a block facing her. The youth is wrapped in a himation drawn over his head. The wing of the sphinx overlaps with the lip of the vase and reaches its rim. On the right a youth riding a horse. He is naked and holds a spear. Behind him, by the handle, a bird flies to the right. Under the handle, a goat. The himation over the youth's head may be read as a symbol of fear or mourning .
This skyphos is attributed by Beazley to The Theseus Painter. According to other scholars it should be attributed to The Philadelphia Painter.
