The recent demise of Mayne, formerly of Manchester and more recently based in Warrington is regrettable although the name will live on with the Goodwin family. Much of the fleet has been advertised for sale by the Procters/Solus partnership but I have no idea who is currently using Volvo B8R Plaxton Leopard MA12 YNE (ex YX66 WND) taking a school party to Derby Arena yesterday, 30th March, 2022.

Ynes Enriquetta Julietta Mexia (1870-1938) was a versatile and highly energetic botanist. She'd started out her career as a poultry farmer, then became a social worker on the West Coast of the USA where she found her avocation as a lover of plants. Though she failed taking a degree, she was soon avidly collecting plants and exploring in Central and South America. Notably she was also an anthropologist of sorts, living for a number of months with the Peruvian Aguarunas of the Amazon. But always collecting and sending home to the USA her finds many of which ended up in the U.S. National Herbarium.
On April 20, 1935 Mexia found this amazing Ceratostema silvicola - more or less translating to Woodsy Horned-Stamen - a member of the Heather family in Napo-Pastaza, Ecuador. It was first fully described by Albert Charles Smith (1906-1999) in 1950. The genus had already been given its name by Antoine-Laurent de Jussieu (1748-1830) in 1789. It has been said that our plant is of 'little economic importance'; regardless, today in Amsterdam's glum weather it is a happy reminder of Brightness.

Capital City, K'al Yne in the world of Odan. This is a small part of a much larger moc in progress that follows the kingdoms in the world of Odan. Also an entry for now in LoB Global Challenge #2 - Micro Fortress. This is the first moc in a series of mocs of Odan. I'll be starting a Kickstarter in a few weeks on this model to help to finish it off. Approximate size will be 4'-5' tall by about 2' wide.

The entry into administration in February of Mayne's of Warrington was finally resolved with the acquisition of the operator by Go Goodwins - an announcement of the purchase being made on Go Goodwins' Facebook page on 13 March.
A look on the Vehicle Operating Licencing Service website reveals that the surrender of the existing Mayne licence is under consideration, while a licence for eight vehicles in the name of Go Goodwins Group Ltd is in place, with the Mayne's base in Warrington down as an operating centre, alongside the current Goodwins' premises in Eccles.
