This work is part of my series "The life in my wall". It contains of abstract pictures I took from a wall, in which I see some form of composition. The main focus is always on details, I had this ever since I was a little girl. Like the famous Rorschach tests or the phenomenon called "apophenia": the experience of seeing meaningful patterns or connections in random or meaningless data I like to see all kinds of figures in these walls. This wall shows Yggdrasil, the Norwegian mythological snakelike figure, eating from the tree of life.

In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil is the World Tree, a great ash tree located at the center of the universe and joining the nine worlds of Norse cosmology.
It's also a shade to the sun.
Yggdrasil is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. In both sources, Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is center to the cosmos and considered very holy. The gods go to Yggdrasil daily to assemble at their things, traditional governing assemblies. The branches of Yggdrasil extend far into the heavens, and the tree is supported by three roots that extend far away into other locations; one to the well Urðarbrunnr in the heavens, one to the spring Hvergelmir, and another to the well Mímisbrunnr. Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the dragon Níðhöggr, an unnamed eagle, and the stags Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór.

Young teenage girl on a steampunk stand (Yggdrasil festival 2020; credit markpourinternet@gmail.com)
Thor awoke once more. Vision came slow, but when it did, what he saw surprised him. The cell door was bashed in, the lanterns were burnt out, and the light of the Yggdrasil sphere poured into the halls from a smashed-in ceiling.
Thor tried to stand, but his muscles failed him. He collapsed face first into the rough stone. He pushed himself up with weak arms and a deep aching pain. He managed to get on his feet by leaning on the walls. A shock came to him; the binds were no longer on his wrists. They were simply gone. They weren’t connected to the cell, and they weren’t lying on the floor.
Thor’s thoughts came hazy and half-formed. He resorted to the basest of issues on his mind. He wondered the halls of the dungeon, searching for any sign of other people, or perhaps his brother.
With no soul in sight, Thor called for Mjolnir. At least his loyal companion could keep him company. He could swear she spoke to him sometimes. His call fell flat. He didn’t feel that pull he usually felt. Calling Mjolnir didn’t require faith, because whenever he did, he could feel a connection pulling it to him. The hammer willfully lended itself to him. Odin always said that the hammer chooses the wielder, not the other way around. But Thor didn’t feel that bond. It was gone.
Thor fell to his knees, and wept. He was lost, without his brother or his most loyal companion. He knew he was on the trunk of Yggdrasil, the massive tree that had portals to the other realms. This fortress had been built on one of the main branches as a sort of outpost that Odin had placed to watch for signs of Malekith and his damned forces. But that was a hundred years ago. The forts had largely been abandoned, only to be re-inhabited by brigands and witches like Amora and Skurge.
Thor found his way to a balcony directly overlooking the courtyard, and on the horizon, Yggdrasil. Something was wrong, however. Something looked different. The lower parts of the tree were dark and brittle. All thought left Thor as he took in the horrifying sight.
Yggdrasil was rotting.
THE END OF THE MIGHTY THOR VOLUME 1: DARK GENESIS
~~~
Volume 1 is complete! I hope I have you hooked for more! As of now, I'm currently working on my MKSG application for the Magik character, and if that goes through, I'll be writing a series on her along with Thor. Keep an eye out for the application any time soon!
"Körmt and Ormt, and the Kerlaugs twain:
these Thor must wade
each day, when he to council goes
at Yggdrasil's ash;
for as the As-bridge is all on fire,
the holy waters boil"
(from Norse mythology)
A MOC from 2023 based on Norse mythology. Several different realms of Norse myth are all represented as different sections of the tree. Niflheim is located at the roots of the tree, Midgard and Asgard near the base, and Musphelheim is the smoldering top, where Surtur plunges his sword into the bark.
Every Deep Space Exploration Vessel bears a seedling of the great World Tree; but only few grow a tree capable of bending time and space itself, not breaking but slightly bending the Einsteinian rules of FTL-travel.
Happy shiptember! The hull is based on a Lowell-sphere... AND a droid gun ship... and some parts of (2) Grievous speeder; diameter ca. 22 studs, height ca. 26 studs.
Thor and Loki ride their goats on the branches of Yggdrasil, tracking down the magical traces of Amora and her Executioner. The daring duo crosses a foreboding fortress on the edge of a wide branch. They enter with caution…
Thor alighted his hand with sparks of lightning to reveal the dark crevices of the desolate fortress. Not a sign of life showed its face, but the magical trail Amora left behind had led here.
The skeletons and remains of ages dead soldiers lay about the sturdy halls. “Loki, ready yourself.” His brother drew his dagger and readied his magic. The main hallway led to an anteroom with a portal at one wall. In front of it stood three figures.
Amora, Skurge, and a mysterious robed man. The robed man held their prize; the Warlock’s Eye. Immediately, the robed man rushed for the portal. It closed behind him, and Amora and Skurge stood in readied stances.
Thor and Loki looked at each other, confident in their skills and knowing their strategy. Thor went for Skurge. Their fight evolved from hammer against axe to a brutal fistfight.
Meanwhile, Loki fends off Amora’s charms and spells. From what Thor can tell, Loki isn’t having a great time.
Loki noticed the surprising new strength in Amora’s spells and magic. He’d never seen her at such a power level. Thoughts of where she could’ve attained such power distracted Loki, and he let his guard down for a split second.
Thor turned his gaze to Loki’s bout as he held Skurge in a headlock. His poor brother had been hit with a blast of energy by Amora, who was now cursing the god of mischief.
“Loki, no!” He shouted. The Executioner released Thor’s hold on him, and pinned Thor down. Mjolnir lay on the ground, not heeding Thor’s call.
Something was wrong. Loki went limp and fell to the ground, and as Amora turned to Thor, his vision blacked out.
Back with another issue of Thor! I have several more planned out; they just need to be built.
A figbarf of the characters featured in this scene will be up as well.
As for TKoS, our team is slowly building. We're constantly looking for new members, as the story will be amping up soon.
C&C welcome!
Designed by Wolfgang AG the makers of fine pieces of engineering like the Bjorn, and most of our naval guns. The Yggdrasil howitzer, field gun is capable of both distant saturation fire, and accurate closer range fire. This devastating weapon is believed to be the key in any ground engagement, and has enough devastating firepower to bust a Manticore, Fenrir, Basque Grand or any other projected heavy, or huge tank. Its range is over 23,000 meters (around 14 miles) and it has a maximum gun elevation of just over 45 degrees. The Yggdrasil fires mainly high explosive rounds of various fuse lengths, and can be transported by railcar, or by truck in 3 separate pieces. It is based off of the Krupp 15cm gun. www.network54.com/Realm/overvalwagens/krupp149.jpg
This good? I figure it's a step down from 200mm siege gun, and a step up from a normal 77 guns people are using under the field gun class. Going to build these under the Howizer class. The gun shield didn't come out the way I wanted it, but I fixed it in an edit, still no to happy though. The Fenrir heavy tank might be armed with a casemate one of these that's been reduced to 107mm, and has a smaller end to the barrel. It will basically have a 107mm gun, like the Mendeleev Tank, and really stronk frontal armor as thick as the proposed British flying elephant tank "a whopping 70mm". The side armor will be around 50mm. If I base it off of the stats of the actual Mendeleev Tank however it would be MUCH higher, with 150mm of frontal armor, and 100mm of armor on each side. To OP imo... but I may go close. It will probably be under huge tank. This is all subject to change.
