At this stage the handles are being shaped and attached to the pot section. Nanbu Ironware is noted throughout Japan. An iron pot, tetsubin, can range from Y3000 for a small one to Y500,000 for the large ones made as art. Somehow, by heating the water in bare iron, the water is changed to make it better for tea.
I always wanted one but never wanted to carry it. Some are lined with enamel so that tea can be made directly inside like a teapot. Instead of "tetsubin," these are called "kyusu, and are largely what's exported.

Camera module is just glued to supporting base and can be simply peeled off.
As you can see the module is much smaller than M12 lens.
Probably a good idea for sports use would be re-doing the whole thing in a new body (e.g. pipe) with proper M12 mount, bigger battery and other extras.
Now i just need to test various performance aspects, like day, dusk/dawn, shake.
Just received my y3000. It records videos at 1280x720p@30fps with sound and does it for $23.76 shipped.
I plan on converting it for sports use, so i needed to know how to attach a wider and faster lens.
Since i couldn't locate any pictures or descriptions of insides on the internet, i decided to take matters in my own hands.
If i see some interest i might add some sample videos and other details.
As you'll see later the module is too small to accept standard M12 lenses.
Interesting fact - after reading techmoan.com/blog/2011/4/16/the-smallest-720p-camcorder-in-the-world.html, i was worried that this one had 8.0 megapixels in the listing picture. The seller contacted manufacturer to confirm that it's really the same camera 2.0 megapixel.
View after putting rear part aside. 2 screws for the board and sticker for battery.
1. Undo two screws.
2. Remove the transparent lens "cap" from front (its glued to front)
Use something soft (cotton swab, pencil eraser) and push the lens inside - it should smoothly come out together with the PCB.
3. Optionally peel off the battery.

Watch for the button, as it just falls out.
Y3000. Adjustable height and rotates. With remote control. Very quiet - can sleep with it on. New Y5000.

At the capsule hotel (kapseru hoteru) right next to the front desk
they have a ticket machine where you pay for your night's stay. The
riverside hotel where Jay and I stayed costs Y3000/night and was
actually pretty nice!
i'm impressed with vending-machine technology in Japan. Nearly every one I've used so far is capable of returning change with bills AND coins, and the drink machines serve both hot and cold drinks.

I won this lot of 16 juban! It was for only Y1000 and even with the fees and domestic shipping, it's less than Y3000 :) Really worth it! Especially considering how expensive juban can go for on eBay. Admittedly, I have absolutely no idea of these juban measurements and all, but at least I have a variety... right?
I may have to trade some of these away ;_; Especially those men's juban! Cos I've absolutely no use for them and I refuse to cut up a perfectly good juban for something else. Maybe Hong might want them..?
ETA: I got them!! They're sooooo much prettier in real life, AND they all fit!! WOOHOO! *dances happily*
We bought a new desk (Y9000) that's longer but narrower than the old one, so now Dave & I can sit side by side at the desk, and it doesn't take up as much space in the living room. We bought an extra chair, too (Y3000). Kyle bought me a bookshelf, & I moved the TV to the side to fit everything. I really really love this layout.

First meal in Tokyo.
Daddy and mummy saw the menu outside this restaurant in Hamacho, Tokyo. There was a Y2000 set menu, a Y3000 and Y4000. They went in, sat down and pointed the Y4000 menu which looked pretty much the same as this picture above. The Japanese waiter shaked his head, crossed his arm and tried to explain something to them... they knew that there must be something wrong but couldn't understand what happened. The waiter bowed and apologised - he went away for about 5 min and came back with a waitress who spoke Mandarin.......
AHH... she explained to M&D that the set menu was Y4000 per person which serves 4 people and must be pre-ordered.
So, that solved the mystery and M&D ordered these food from the (picture) menu and costed them... Y5000 which wasn't too bad
