Xenon é um menino muito estudioso, e bonito !

Spotted in Can Picafort, my first Tata Xenon! I remember seeing some of these in Italy (you can find some Tata there), but this one is the first one I can have in picture!

So a few weeks back I got a bunch of glass from Richard and have been having fun filling various glass objects. I'm using my home-built ovens to bake out the glass and remove residual oxygen and water adsorbed on the glass walls. I'm running the stuff up to 450C and baking it out for an hour or so. I turn on the pump several times during this period to remove the gases. Cool down takes about four hours so I try and set-up the night before and fill the next day.

So far I have filled and sealed about seven tubes and at least four are keepers. I plan to cut open and re-fill/seal the less successful tubes.

This is a video showing the fill of a stepped globe with xenon gas. Apparently there is some residual oxygen/nitrogen from a previous fill (Ne/Xe/O2). That tube was interesting but subtle.

I've tried two fill trying to get a good green effect using Xe/N2/O2 but each try failed to get a good green. You can see a little green in this tube but I am after a bright green.

In a little while Kathy and I are going to the Ventura Art Walk. I always have a great time at those events so I'm really excited.

Cheers.

Since discovering the Kodak Retina range of cameras early this year I have been amazed at their solid quality and razor sharp lenses.

This one I've been after for a good number of months and i was so glad i won this on ebay. The seller had inherited it and wanted rid of it as he even had the 'Make An Offer' button, so I did, he came back with a counteroffer and the deal was done. It was sold untested but when it arrived it was in pristine condition and everything worked as l've run a roll of film through it!!!

This has been one of my great ebay buys, to say I'm happy doesn't even come into it!!! Christmas has come early for me!!

The prices have been going through the roof on the UK site recently as everything starts at £50!!! I got mine for £43 inc postage.

No point in chasing after the IIIC with that cluttered viewfinder and excessive price, this will suit me fine.

This is my Leica!!!!

Alameda, CA June 2019

One of my goals with this whole plasma project is to duplicate the intense green xenon plasma that I have seen from other peoples work. So far I've tried about four fills and have not had good results.

Xenon is really expensive so I'm leery of just filling glass at random. So today I tried an experiment that told me a lot. By putting an already filled globe with 100 torr of xenon over a flask of liquid nitrogen I was able to liquefy the xenon and thus increase the ratio of oxygen/nitrogen.

The video shows the globe as it cools and the color green just gets better and better. The globe initially had 100T Xe/0.8T N2/0.3T O2.

The video was clipped at the end, but you can still see the results very well.

Cheers.

An early morning beach walk allowed me to capture this scene. Only in this circumstance, only the palm tree shadow was present. Less seemed More...

As I was just getting into my photographic rhythm, I’ve come down with a stinking, bad cold. Really disappointing, but my grandson commandeered my camera and at 7 years old, he LOVES photography! WHAT a joy.!

And, my grown sons and daughter were here with me. It is all Bliss!
