XLProjects and Project Cargo Nexus successfully completed a joint meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, in November, 2013. The meeting was held in the Hilton Cape Town City Centre over a three day period. We had a very industrious time with the one-on-one meetings over a day-and-a-half. We kicked the event off with a welcome reception on the pool deck of the Hilton and on the first morning we got the meeting started with presentations given by Safmarine MPV, Antwerp Breakbulk Agencies, Sarens South Africa and Advanced International Networks. We also took time to enjoy a lovely dinner at the Simonsig wine estate in Stellenbosch which was greatly enjoyed by one and all.

Origin Lojistik Tas.Tic AÅŸ. Moves Cargo for Oil & Gas Producers
Istanbul, Turkey: XLProjects member, Origin Lojistik Tas.Tic AÅŸ., specialises in moving cargo across the Caspian Sea.
Due to the size of the Caspian Sea, only river type vessels are allowed to be used for transporting goods.
Origin Lojistik Tas.Tic AÅŸ., transported 1089 tons & 1448 cbm Tank material and steel structures to Aktau port, Kazakhistan, which is located on the Caspian Sea.
Coming from Saudi Arabia, the cargo had to be transshipped in Derince Port, Turkey from the larger seafreight ships to the smaller river barges to continue its journey to Aktau.
Origin Lojistik Tas.Tic AÅŸ. oversaw all aspects of the shipment from loading to final offloading at the site.
Bangkok, Thailand: XLProjects member, FLS Projects, just completed another successful delivery of two projects at the same time.
The first project involved the delivery of components for four teeming cranes with a volume of 2,650 cbm with items measuring 30 meters and exceeding 40 tons.
The second project consisted of 23 packages of bypass stacks and diverters with a total volume of 2,850 cbm.
Both sets of cargo were delivered from shippers locations in Rayong and Chonburi areas to Laem Chabang port and FLS’ scope included inland transportation from shippers to port, customs clearance and port handling.
The tight fabrication and shipping schedules of those 2 projects required FLS to be in close coordination with shippers, port authority, vessel owners, trucking companies and customs department in order to ensure smooth operations.
Within less than 24 hours, each project was successfully delivered to the port!
We’d like to congratulate Bryan Geddes on his promotion to Branch Manager of IFT Utah. Bryan has done a fine job at IFT for many years, and deserves the recognition and responsibility of the position. We wish Bryan the best for his continued success.
Lyon, France: XLProjects member, Cargo Global Logistics, recently shipped a preheating screw from Lyon, France to Bahrain via Antwerp.
Their scope of responsibility included land transport, handling at loading and unloading ports, seafreight on Ro/Ro Vessel, and delivery on site by night in Bahrain.
The cargo measured 13,21m x 4m x 3,59m and weighed in at 69 tons.
Not only was the cargo out of gauge, but it was also classified as dangerous, so extra care was needed during the handling of the preheating screw.
