This litlle "building" was once a Petrol station that closed down in the 80s.
Its situated at the foot of the Great Sugarloaf mountain on the Roundwood road, at Kilmacanogue Co. Wicklow. It seems to now be used as a lorry parking spot by a local Haulier. What a place and the view is amazing! I wouldnt mind moving in there, though in Winter, the wind would cut you in two as it sweeps in from the West.
I took the photo early in the morning not long after sunrise and it was a beautiful day.
Its raining here this morning so Im stuck inside. Love to see some cheery photos from all, of you to lift the gloom!
Do have a great day and if you like give us a Fave!
Thanks my Flickr Friends!!!

A week or so ago, I wrote about my favourite (endangered) Garry oak meadow. I wasn't very clear. As often happens, I was arguing from more than one place at once. A couple of commenters misunderstood me completely... and I don't blame them. I was pretty muddled. Here's what I was trying to say (and I'll try to be clearer).
Our world has reached a stage where hardly anything is "natural." Think about it. Try to name just one thing. It's nearly impossible, given how much we humans have altered the planet. Even the weather... which would seem the most natural thing of all... is so mucked up because of what we've done to the environment.
Last year, some scientists reported the results of their study of highrise window grime around Toronto. They found significant amounts of chemicals banned in North America for decades... presumably carrried here by atmospheric systems from less developed countries with fewer regulations.
More recently, I listened to a radio doc. in which a young Canadian recounted her experience living in China for a year. She tried to ride a bicycle and couldn't; couldn't breathe. Even walking, she said she sometimes vomited from the sheer thickness of the air pollution.
Tempting, when you hear that, to look around smugly at your own apparently wide-open spaces, and clean air, and pristine wilderness... but, no. It's not pristine. Nothing is any more. Because the whole broader global ecosystem has been altered in presumably irreversable ways.
And here's another anecdote to illustrate the point.
Some years ago, there was a massive fire in Yellowstone Park; it burned for weeks. It stymied all firefighting efforts and, at one point, someone said "Why not let it burn?" That's what would happen in nature, after all. Forest fires were part of the natural order of things... clearing out brush and dead wood and whatnot and making space for rejuvenated habitat.
But that only works within a natural system. And we ain't got one. Not any more. And no... I'm not despairing... just trying (not too successfully I fear) to make my argument that almost NOTHING is natural.
Living in houses? Driving cars? Using computers? Flying in planes? It's all way-out shit when you really stop and think about it.
Which makes rubber masks seem... well... if not natural, then certainly within the range of "normal" in today's world.
But... wait. There IS something natural left.
Love. Long may it reign. And may we some day reach a place where no one is judged or punished or ostracized for who they love. Because that's the most unnatural phenomenon of all.
(Added to the Cream of the Crop pool as most interesting, as judged by Flickr.)
In 1964 the young Paul Simon wrote The Sound of Silence, a song that more than half a century later is still sadly valid. He couldn’t imagine that in 2020s we would still talk about his dialogue with the most intimate part of himself, opened by one of the most beautiful opening words ever written.
There have been multiple theories about the meaning of this song. For example, some believe it is related to the death of JFK or the Vietnam War. But many think it is something simpler. And the author himself has verified that it has to do with something as simple as lack of communication.
This is a message that resonates, even more, today than it did 59 years ago, which is perhaps what led Disturbed to create a hauntingly beautiful cover of the song. It was most famously played live on "Conan" on March 28, 2016, and the video of it on YouTube has garnered a mere 75 million views since.

The great Goethe wrote that yellow is the color closest to light, yellow smells like spring, yellow is the sun that begins to warm stronger in spring, yellow is one of the colors of the flag struck.
A new spring is coming, may it be made of light, of scents, of hope and above all of peace.
Thanks Lawrence for inviting me to participate for me it was an honor ♥
Nietzsche wrote, referring to Val Fex: “There is no place I love as much”. I can understand why! This is such a peaceful valley.
“Val Fex” is located to the south of Sils in Upper Engadine, Switzerland. The average altitude is about 2'000 meters.
The name of the valley derives from the Romansh word “feda”, meaning sheep, as the people of Bregaglia once brought large herds of sheep here. The name of the torrent visible at the center of the image is "Fedacla".
As I wrote in the previous post a landscape like this is rather easier to photograph than East Yorkshire . These mountains part of the Rockies chain are south east of Banff in Alberta. This was the final day of our trip to Canada and the only time we saw the Rockies without fairly thick cloud cover . As they say better late than never .

When Rachel Carson wrote her groundbreaking book SILENT SPRING she was referring to the decimation of birds by pesticides. This spring in 2020 was silent of car traffic, air planes and other human noises making the sounds of birds and other animals much easier to hear. It was truly amazing. I love the pretty call of the Baltimore Oriole and other birds. I also heard coyotes yipping and howling. And an eerie silence in the middle of a huge city, I don't know if I will ever experience that again.

Hello, my dear friends. The last time I wrote to you how am I, it was the fifth night of russia's full-scale war against my country, Ukraine. And now it's twenty-eight night. Almost a month. In practice - twenty seven years lived.
So much has happened during this time that it is impossible to write in one post. russia is a terrorist country. They came to our land to destroy us. They are committing genocide. They are killing us and killing our children. Which is the biggest pain these days. They are bombing, shooting, robbery, rape...
I'm fine, but I'm not safe. Like all of us. I'm in Ukraine and I'm not going to run away. I'm working and believe in our victory.
It is scary to wake up from explosions. It's scary to lose our people. Our children. Our future. Despite this, the russia-terrorist does not intimidate us and will never bring us to our knees! We are not slaves and never will be!
I'm not a mother yet, but I am a woman. And this is my pain. That's why this is my art today.
Thank you, my dears, for your support. You are the best!

Got to get back to my baby again

Well, she wrote me a letter
Said she couldn't live without me no more
Listen mister, can't you see I got to get back

A visitor wrote to me about my picture yesterday that she realized that she had photographed far too few flowers this year. I then thought about it for a moment and can confirm that I have posted far too few pictures of flowers. So it's not that I haven't made photos that I like or that I've lost interest in flowers. It's just because I've made so many other photos that I like too.
I want to change that now and will concentrate on flowers for a few days.
I start with a field of poppies, which I have shown several times, but which, because of the light I experienced there, always inspires me.

As I wrote in a picture discription this week I was on a viewing point to see the castle Hohenzollern. On Thursday I was there again with my friend Andreas. We came exactly to the right time, it was the beginning of the purple 5 minutes ;-) (it's between the sunset with a lots of red and orange tones and the blue hour) It was very wonderful and the colours on the sky are unbelievable, unfortenetly we shot against the light so the catle is a little bit dark on a few positions.

The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
When silence drowns the screams?
Confusion will be my epitaph
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh
But I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying
Between the iron gates of fate
The seeds of time were sown
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
If no one sets the rules
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools
Confusion will be my epitaph
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh
But I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying
Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying
Hello Beautiful World!
There's not a day that goes by that the memory of my mother is not one of the first things in my mind.
She continues to live in my heart and I can still remember her last smile as I kissed her head to
say goodbye the last day that I saw her. I would have never imagined that would be the last time that I
would be looking into her loving eyes... and I miss her so much.
Today, I would like to share something that I wrote many years ago.
It is very sad...

As Gilbert H. Grosvenor, Editor of National Geographic once wrote, “A map is the greatest of all epic poems. Its lines and colors show the realization of great dreams.”
Often the essence or spark of an idea comes from a map. Every dream we create here in Second Life starts with a vision which is inspired by our imagination to what might be and what one can achieve.
These elements are the detailed artwork of a cartographer which, when done well, leads your eye along a beautiful trail that tells the story of a part of the world - leaving your imagination to journey, discover., and enjoy.
Here in Second Life our daydreams take us to new adventures through the creation of places we dream of to explore.
The Village of Ciampi, as seen through the eyes of a RL cartographer, is one such place. In SL, his name is Viggen Petofi. He is a man that I have come to love and adore through his talent, wit, and charm which captures my hopeless romantic heart.

John 8:8 “And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.”
Inside that opening of sandstone there are petroglyphs, which the Blackfoot Indians carved into the rock. “This place has the largest collection of rock art on the North American Great Plains.”
My beautiful, big sister passed away three weeks ago today. I would like to share some words I wrote for her so as to let others know even for just a moment the incredible woman she was...
I don’t even know how to begin to put into words how my heart is breaking. Last Sunday our beautiful sister, aged 42 was unexpectedly taken to fly with the angels.
There were times in our younger lives when our very survival depended on having each other, the bond that creates is like no other. I am the woman I am today largely because of you. Your kindness, gentleness and love for me was a constant beacon even through the darkest storms.
I wished so immensely that I could put back into place every broken piece that never should have been fragmented but I just couldn’t. I am so sorry Nessie that your chance to be the wholeness of who you deserved to be was taken from you.
That does not take away for one second from all the wonderful ways you enriched our lives everyday and the incredible woman you were.
Often in this world a persons measure and worth is gauged by their “achievements”...the job, the salary, the house, FB friends, all of the outwardly things but that is not the legacy we leave. What matters is the way in which we loved and nobody did that better than you. The unconditional love you gifted us with we will carry in our hearts everyday.
It was within that love that our sisterhood stood strong...always the three amigos lol. Me, you and Terri have had each other’s back through thick and thin. When you couldn’t through no fault of your own and certainly not through lack of love take care of your babies then we rallied around you and took them under our wings as our own but never taking away from your rightful place also as their Mumma.
I can’t imagine the pain and heartache you went through watching your sisters raise your children and through all your silent tears you just loved the shit out of all of us. What a fucking amazing mother and sister.
That is a legacy!!! And it will never be forgotten.
We will honour you everyday by loving your babies and your nieces and nephew with every inch of who we are. And by loving our dear Mum who is the matriarch of our family. We love the way we do because our Mumma taught us that!
This is not a goodbye because I know you are in our eternal home and one day we will all be reunited, until that time we will miss you everyday.
I love you my beautiful sis 💛

As introduction above the diagrams she wrote:
'""""Be much. Be little.
Plane models such a Christmas wreaths become 3D when you add extra pieces of units to the models or reduce the number of units."""""
So instead of using 8 units to create a flat star or wreath you see here the 'Twinkle Cruller with 6 units' on the left and the 'Twinkle Cruller with 5 units' on the right and they become 3D.
I used gold patterned foil, which gives immediately a Xmas feeling. Sorry for that, it is bit too early........ ;-)) So I did make a monochrome photo as well (see first comment box), but then you might think it isn't paper anymore.
That's why I uploaded them both, because I would like to know which version you like more?
Thanks already for letting me know.
Paper: for both models I used 7,5x7,5cm gold foil
Final size/diameter:
- 6 unit Twinkle Cruller about 9cm
- 5 unit Twinkle Cruller about 7cm
Model : Origami 'Twinkle Cruller'

Wrote me in a letter
That she makes you feel better
All of the things you said to her
But I feel what I feel, it's real
She ain't right for you
She don't know you like I do
And no matter what she do
She ain't right for you
Don't you wanna be happy
Maybe you should stay with me
‘Cause she ain't right for you
She don't love you like I do
Turned me around
Turned me upside down
Sporting the tears of a clown
But I feel what I feel, it's real
She ain't right for you
She don't know you like I do
And no matter what she do
She ain't right for you
Don't you wanna be happy
Maybe you should stay with me
‘Cause she ain't right for you
She don't love you like I do
It will stay
And I'll spend all my day
Chasing a love that she took away
But I feel what I feel, hey
She ain't right for you
She don't know you like I do
And no matter what she do
She ain't right for you
Don't you wanna be happy
Maybe you should stay with me (Stay with me, hey, stay
with me)
‘Cause the ain't right for you (Stay with me)
She don't love you like I do (Stay with me)
Stay
Oh, now, now
I'll spend all my days
Oh, chasing a love
I should just walk away
But I feel what I feel
The writer of 'Os Sertões' wrote the book in 1898-1901, along with the construction of the Ponte de São José do Rio Pardo. The so-called Casa de Zinco, made of zinc leaves, in which Euclid wrote and designed his works is located on the banks of the Pardo River and next to its bridge, protected by a glass house.
Due to the conception of the Sertões in this municipality, the Casa de Cultura Euclides da Cunha promotes the Euclidian Week and the Euclidean Marathon from 9 to 15 August; these are events intended for students of the municipal schools and others.
Dedicated to Eve www.flickr.com/photos/eve23/, she wrote me an awesome testimonial...tks! I'm very glad :)))))))))))
A little poem I wrote in tribute to the Lone Tree.
A tree alone I may be
But all of Glen Lyon I can see
I’m standing fast on this mountain tall
My roots are deep, so I won’t fall
The Wind, the Rain cause me no pain
Their challenge is great but nothing to gain
As I won’t fall to their wanting ways
Across Glen Lyon I’ve fixed my gaze
Scotlands loveliest Glen
long and wide
My home, my mountain,
My Countryside.

I wrote a few lines for this photo about my impressions on this square this morning in Brussels - BE
Orphaned things
If you would stand on this square this Sunday morning
And if you would have closed your eyes,
And would have listened very carefully,
You could have heard the whisper of all these orphaned things.
All in households long ago, but now transformed to tumble weed,
Pushed by the gentle winds of time onto these tables and these cobblestones,
If all these things were transparent, they would each write a book about their life and
Vossenplein would be the biggest library of all things in the world.
But they are not: the murmur of these things sounds cloudy and opaque,
And if you look at them, you sometimes see their loneliness,
That vase that has been snatched from its familiar and beloved place,
That empty photo frame, these things they are so single, they seem jealous.
Jealous of that happy silver spoon and fork, still together after all those years,
In 12-fold!
With the whole family in their native velour box,
And when that box is closed,
They dream of endless Belgian dining parties,
When the world was young and innocent and
Animals and household things could laugh and talk
And write a book about their life.
Joyce Kilmer wrote a poem titled Trees. It began, 'I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree.' Just gazing upon this photograph, it inspired me to create my own short poem. 'I think that I shall never see a flower as lovely as yon poppy. Her petals reach up to the sky as if she might yet one day fly. No other bloom makes my heart beat fast, I just wish your dear petals would last. With oh such glory upon the ground, I think I'll never wear a frown.'

I'm quirky, silly, blunt, and broken. My days are sometimes too dark, and my nights are sometimes too long. I often trip over my own insecurities. I require attention, long for passion, and wish to be desired. I use music to speak when words fail me, even though words are as important to me as the air I breathe. I love hard and with all that I have... and even with my faults, I am worth loving. ~ Danu Grayson (My SL Mom & RL BFF) ♥

E.B. White wrote in his poem, Natural History; 'The spider, dropping down from twig, Unfolds a plan of her devising, A thin premeditated rig To use in rising. And all that journey down through space, In cool descent and loyal hearted, She spins a ladder to the place From where she started. Thus I, gone forth as spiders do In spider's web a truth discerning, Attach one silken thread to you For my returning.
