"The mossy marble statue stood proudly to the side of the entrance to the Halls of Story, cradling in its arms a closed book.
It seemed to me it was guarding ancient tales of magic and wisdom, waiting for the right audience to start storytelling for them."
-The Story Bearer, The Halls of Story, The Apprentice's Journal
Located at Come Write In, Second Life
Come Write In is a communal writing space that was created primarily for writers interested or participating in the Nation Novel Writing Month event, which happens every November. The goal is to craft a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. You can tackle this challenge on your own, or as part of a group, but you're not alone! There are many people who participate each year, even across the world, and some of them are here in SL!
Grab yourself a glamping tent, or a chair by the fire, and work. Or commune with your muse and enjoy a comfortable place to park yourself in a chill relaxed environment while you're tabbed out and chatting in the forums.
To connect with other writers in SL, just join the Come Write In group! They will be organizing write-ins, word wars and sprints, and other fun writing activities throughout the month of November.

I write this with a heavy heart. The last couple of years have found me with a progressively debilitating spinal column and joint problems. If it were just me, I would never ask, but I have 2 young daughters that look to me for support, so I have to swallow my pride...
If you are in a position to help, I have setup an account to accept donations, even as small as the price of a coffee. Or, I also have PayPal. Anything would be greatly appreciated. See my "About" page on Flickr for the link. Thank you.

I thought for a long time whether I should write this now or just keep it to myself. Because today is not about me at all. But it's been bothering me for days.
And as sorry as I am, it's not about you either.
Today belongs to a little boy who was not allowed to blossom like this winter aconite does.
I already know his story, which is far too short, even though I will be able to meet him for the first time in a few hours.
Because today is the first time that I am photographing an angle baby. Something I never thought I was capable of. And yet my things are ready to go.
And so I want to dedicate this flower solely to this boy whose name I don't even know. The boy and of course his family, who now have to try to deal with this situation.

Seek it again when the waters flow;
Whisper a word when the wind is heard,
And wait until echo repeat the word.”

Two of my photos combined. One of a verse from a treasured book the other a shot off the telly - Raymond Blanc's herb garden!

This is another image from the archives of telescope live – the spiral galaxy M83. I noticed while processing that this dataset was deep enough to include a fainter outer halo that I couldn’t find, so I wanted to show as much of this new halo as I could. It was tricky to balance the brightness of the core with the brightness of the outer halo, but using some pixelmath tricks in conjunction with HDR and GHS I think I was able to do a pretty good process. Given that this dataset was so good, I did a lot of sharpening to it, so the core and dust lanes are extremely clear! This is about 15 hours of data from Chile.
Big, bright, and beautiful, spiral galaxy M83 lies a mere twelve million light-years away, near the southeastern tip of the very long constellation Hydra. Prominent spiral arms traced by dark dust lanes and blue star clusters lend this galaxy its popular name, The Southern Pinwheel. But reddish star forming regions that dot the sweeping arms highlighted in this sparkling color composite also suggest another nickname, The Thousand-Ruby Galaxy. About 40,000 light-years across, M83 is a member of a group of galaxies that includes active galaxy Centaurus A. In fact, the core of M83 itself is bright at x-ray energies, showing a high concentration of neutron stars and black holes left from an intense burst of star formation. This sharp composite color image also features spiky foreground Milky Way stars and distant background galaxies.

We Write the Ghost Stories - Pattern Seeking Animals
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxiy76dwzU4
Unbroken horses are scattering
Out past the fences they're circling
Gathering forces and dashing our hopes
So go the ways of our useless ropes
Searching the sacraments
These were no accidents
Every soul in town was drowning
Empty of empathy
Unfinished sympathy
We write the ghost stories as we go
Unbroken horses won't share the blame
It's all but over, they've rigged the game
Best not to follow down to the sea
They've primed the bridges with gasoline
These aren't the glory days
This isn't nature's way
Covered all in dust and rusted
Dreams hold the evidence
Angels are causing this
We write the ghost stories as we go
Searching the sacraments
These were no accidents
Every soul in town was drowning
Empty of empathy
Unfinished sympathy
We write the ghost stories as we go
We write the ghost stories as we go
We write the ghost stories as we go
Searching the sacraments
These were no accidents
Every soul in town was drowning
Empty of empathy
Unfinished sympathy
We write the ghost stories as we go
We write the ghost stories as we go
We write the ghost stories
My write up on photographing the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas here
On the weekend of November 20-21, 2010, I was invited to photograph the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas prior to their opening December 15, 2010 in Las Vegas NV.
This set of images represents my efforts that weekend to showcase this newest resort property opening up on the Las Vegas Strip. Thanks to David Scherer from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for showing me around, to Miiko Mentz at Katalyst Films for helping to arrange the shoot, and to my wife for modeling for me.

Monday morning wake up knowing that youve got to go to school
Tell your mum what to expect, she says its right out of the blue
Do you went to work in debenhams, because thats what they expect
Start in lingerie, and doris is your supervisor
And the head said that you always were a queer one from the start
For careers you say you went to be remembered for your art
Your obsessions get you known throughout the school for being strange
Making life-size models of the velvet underground in clay
In the queue for lunch they take the piss, youve got no appetite
And the rumour is you never go with boys and you are tight
So they jab you with a fork, you drop the tray and go berserk
While your cleaning up the mess the teachers looking up your skirt
Youve been used, youre confused
Write a song, Ill sing along
Are you calm? settle down
Soon you will know that you are sane
Youre on top of the world again
Monday morning wake up knowing that youve got to go to school
Mum said she had little choice when she was young, so why should you?
Do you went to work in c&a, cause thats what they expect
Move to ladieswear and take a feel off joe the storeman
Tell veronica the secrets of the boy you never kissed
Shes got everything to gain cause shes a fat girl with a lisp
She sticks up for you when you get aggravation from the snobs
cause you cant afford a blazer and youre always wearing clogs
At the interval you lock yourself away inside a room
Heed of english gets you, asks you, what the hell do you think youre doing?
Do you think youre better then the other kids? well get outside.
Youve got permission, but youve got to make the bastard think hes right
