A partly submerged boat, the Mahery, in the backwaters of the harbour in Oostende. The tug was built in Russia in 1976 and operated in Lithuania with the name Svyturys. After a further name change she appears to have become the Mahery around 2009 and then she somehow ended up in Oostende. The owner is unknown to the Belgian authorities. The ship leaked oil in the harbour, forcing the authorities to put an oil boom around her and extract the fuel. The Mahery is the subject of legal debate, with eight Belgian government bodies involved.

A sad ending to a working boat that once braved the sea, carrying her crew.

August 13, 2010 (Friday) - Was a great day to head to the water. It's quite a hike down from the road. Still hard to believe the city is just around the corner ...

I comment about my life and opinions in my eJournal and images every single day.

A quiet day at the beach. Definitely changes a lot in the summer.

Made some minor improvements to Wreck-Gar. His front wheel can be removed off the shoulder and attaches to his forearm (shield) Also added lots of spikes, rust and damage.

wrecking balls were formerly a pear-shape with a portion of the top cut off and they are currently spherical. This picture was taken in the 1950s. Pear-Shaped wrecking balls were used from 1922-1966. They do not make wrecking balls like this anymore and McDonald's did not do PlayPlaces yet when wrecking balls were like this but McDonald's does do PlayPlaces now. This picture was taken in the 1950s.

Kayali's wreck (St Barth)

I was raised out of steel here in the swamps of Jersey, some misty years ago Through the mud and the beer, and the blood and the cheers, I've seen champions come and go So if you got the guts mister, yeah if you've got the balls If you think it's your time, then step to the line, and bring on your wrecking ball. Lyrics By: Bruce Springsteen

After we explored the mining wreck a bit, B's friend and her boyfriend took off, and B and I had dinner and went to bed. You can't tell from the photos, but the campsite was really bare, and poorly laid out. The pit toilet was on the other side of a bluff that you had to climb up and over to get to. The eating and food storage area were a steep climb up the little bluff, and the water was down a steep drop from the campsites.

Even though it was a workout to go to the bathroom (...I may have just hidden in the trees on the bluff to pee), I loved this campsite. It was so beautiful.

the word was "perpendicular". But I thought the page was boring. So I started over with "new" :-)

Wrecked fishing boats, Salen, Isle Of Mull, Scotland.

I like to walk my dogs down here on some days. This breakwater stretches a long way, one day I may scramble out to the end.

The Earth as a wrecking ball

I saw this burned out Suzuki in the fields next to the soccerfields of Mariarade-Hoensbroek. I live near the German border, and we find these abandoned and burned wrecks regularly in our countryside: they were mostly used by drugrunners.
