Wrecked Streetcar
From the back: "Flood March 25 and 26, 1913, Dayton, Ohio. Scene on north side of Third Street, just west of Algonquin Hotel, looking west. The force of the water has upset one of the big traction cars, that run to Richmond, Indiana. Imagine the force of the water. Notice street paving completely torn up by the water force. "

The wreck of John Keran's Torana is taken away. Keran blew a tyre on lap 39, smashing into a safety fence at McPhillamy Park. "Lucky not to be killed", he sustained a broken leg and never raced again.
The other car is John Roxburgh's Datsun 1200 which collided with a Corolla 1200, also at McPhillamy Park.

When the tide goes out at Berrow, near Burnham-On-Sea, the bones of a long dead ship stick out of the sands as a stark reminder of a savage gale and a gallant rescue at the end of the last century.
It all started during the first days of March 1897 when a howling south westerly gale swept up the Bristol Channel, bringing with it high seas, driving snow and sleet.
Many ships soon found themselves in distress, among them the Norwegian barque SS Nornen which had tried out to ride out the storm in the lee of the Lundy Roads but had found her anchors dragging. She was being driven towards Berrow mud flats. The crew desperately tied to save her, but were fighting a losing cause.
MV Dayspring - built in 1975, an excellent fishing vessel bringing mackerel and herring. Renamed Golden Harvest by new owners and her last voyage under her own power was in 2001. She was left moored for several years at Kinlochleven Pier, but due to a chain failure during a heavy storm she ran aground near the Corpach Sea Lock on the 8th December 2011 and has lain there ever since.

These old houses along the river in front of the cathedral have been condemned. The City has finally come to an agreement with the last owners. The houses will be leveled and there will be an open plaza in front of the cathedral. The houses are from many different eras and have not been looked after for decades. We are looking forward to the change- it will open our view from the terrace downriver.

The wrecks of Fleetwood Marsh. Shot April 2013. Fleetwood Marsh is a salt marsh bounded by the River Wyre and Fleetwood. It is home to wildlife and also many old fishing boats from the Fleetwood fleet. The fishermen were paid by the Government to decommission their boats, once done the boats were grounded on the marsh and stripped. What is left are the rotting hulls of once proud fishing boats.

The SS Ayrfield is one of several old shipwrecks around Homebush Bay in Sydney's west.
As an avid wreck diver and underwater photographer I have always enjoyed the challenge of trying to get images of shipwrecks. Challenging it is, as trying to get even a small wreck in an image is complex when you need to shoot through what is often gloomy water.
To have the opportunity to capture images of a wreck in its final resting place, while shooting from shore is wonderful, and you can really take your time to make a variety of images.
Built over 100 years ago, the SS Ayrfield was one of the '60 milers' – the name given to the numerous colliers that worked between Sydney Harbour and the coalfields of the Illawarra and Hunter regions.
In 1972, the Ayrfield was sent to a ship breaking yard at Homebush, and is one of four wrecks that remain in place.
Homebush Bay was once a hub of Sydney's heavy industry, and became a dumping ground for a lot of industrial waste, including the old ship hulls.
Having been cleaned up, Homebush Bay became the home of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and is now a residential, sporting and entertainment and business district.
The old wrecks remain in place, and are popular sites for photography, particularly with the setting sun.
I bought Wreck This Journal to try to inspire my creativity a bit. I'll scan and post the pages as I finish them.
