I had never seen trees wrapped up like this before, however it seems like a
prominent practice here in Japan. In America generally people couldn’t have
a second thought on a tree, however it’s different in Japan. Especially in
famous gardens like the one I was in, old trees are really taken care of.
They wrap them in the cold months as protection, to preserve these icons of
the past.
