Wow - I never thought this would happen, certainly not in the UK and only 30 minutes from my doorstep.

By all accounts the last time one was seen in Leeds was some 40 years or so ago, so this was a very special visit indeed.

I had seen the internet come alive with excitement at it's arrival on a local street. Normally by the time I get along to see a rarity they have long since left, but not this time.

What a day i am so thrilled to finally see this iconic beauty in the wild.

The impala is a graceful antelope. A slender, agile creature, it can clear formidable obstacles and run at speeds faster than 60km/h. They are fleet runners who can leap up to 10m in length and 3m in height. They use their tremendous speed and agility to escape from predators, and sometimes seemingly just for the fun of it.
