Ernest Hemingway penned this thought in his novel "Farewell To Arms" and it appeared as something of a plot summation in the movie "Bottle Shock." The image also echoes the classic line from "Jurassic Park:" "Life will find a way."

Wounds are just another path to knowledge, a brutal but honest way to learn about our own mortality and immortality. Through pain, we become more fully what we are.
The genus Pan consists of two extant species: the common chimpanzee and the bonobo. Taxonomically, these two ape species are collectively termed panins; however, both species are more commonly referred to collectively using the generalized term chimpanzees, or chimps. Together with humans, gorillas, and orangutans they are part of the family Hominidae (the great apes, or hominids). Native to sub-Saharan Africa, common chimpanzees and bonobos are currently both found in the Congo jungle, while only the common chimpanzee is also found further north in West Africa. Both species are listed as endangered. Chimpanzees and bonobos are equally humanity's closest living relatives. As such, they are among the largest-brained and most intelligent primates: they use a variety of sophisticated tools and construct elaborate sleeping nests each night from branches and foliage. Their learning abilities have been extensively studied. 60741
Yesterday I stepped on a shard of glass and it went deep into my foot. I didn't realise how long it was until I pulled it out, and then I wasn't quite prepared for the amount of blood that followed. To add insult to injury I also bruised my shin quite badly. Then I went for a swim like I was still a world champion from 25 years ago to ensure my body would be sore for at least 3 weeks.
But all that aside, mostly I am so deeply sick of working so hard. Physically and mentally.
For those who are in peace with their layers of tears and scars. Always be happy dear friends. Thank you for your visit and have a Happy Thursday :))
Anthyllis vulneraria subsp. alpestris or Alpen-Wundklee in German is a medicinal plant: it can heal wounds. The closest translation in English that I've found is kidneyvetch or woundwort.
As I mentioned in a previous post, some of the interactions between Antarctic fur seals, usually males, can be quite nasty. The individual pictured here has had two hunks of skin and flesh removed by the canines of another seal. If it was human, maybe he would say, 'You should see the other guy!'. Since I didn't witness the altercation, I couldn't vouch for this male coming out on top or not.
Been watching this one hanging out at my feeders and water. Has a bad chest wound but seems to be doing ok.
We found him crawling on the ground and gave him assistance getting from the concrete to the nearby bush. Prognosis: unknown.
I've always been fascinated by the complex winding on balls of string and twine. For the Looking Close... On Friday group, topic: White.
This glorious cab signal equipped SD40-2 leader was wounded but still slugging away as it made it's way east through Cove on the head end of loaded ethanol train 64E just seconds after the late November sun rose over the ridge tops.
The 4th unit, a CSX motor, would be put online at the Harrisburg Fuel Pad to help the train continue on, though the ex-Conrail work horse would keep it's leader status as it continued east out of the Capital City.
