It may be mid-teen temperatures and 20+mph winds, but that isn't stopping me from braving the cold for some pictures! This Sedge warbler is warbling its heart out hidden in a reed bank. Sedge warblers have become quite numerous in Flanders. In spring they announce their presence with a wild, noisy song full of imitations. They spend the winter months in Africa.

I am so thankful that I got to witness the beauty of the Aurora Borealis in its full glory shining brightly over the Northern Minnesota landscape. It is something that I had wanted to see for many years as the last time that I saw it was over 18 years ago. This night was truly a blessing and a truly mesmerizing sight to behold!
Large grebe; much larger than Eared or Horned Grebe with a longer neck and bill. Reddish neck, silver cheek, and black cap distinctive in breeding plumage. In winter, look for smudgy brown neck, whitish throat, and long, mostly yellow bill. Juveniles have stripes on face. Breeds on lakes and marshes in northern North America, Europe, and Asia. Builds a floating nest of plant matter. Winters mainly on the ocean, sometimes gathering in large flocks. Dives to feed on fish. (eBird)

Back in April we had an invasion of Red-necked and Horned Grebes. I managed to sort through the Horned Grebe photos and found one worthy of posting but the sheer number of Red-necked imaged just left me overwhelmed. I finally settled down to find one that I liked.

When you are having bad feelings like jealousy, envy, guilt, hate and all what arouses imbalance within you - you must know that there is something you must deal with
It will then eventually go away, diminish, being lightened up, being put back to the place or person where it originally belonged
Because it is probably not yours to keep
Isn't that quite a thought

We use time, We misuse time, We delay, We postpone, We are human beings
As easy as that
And as difficult as that
I love lighthouses
They are there for guidance and help on your way
I have my own lighthouse, it's there for support and love
It contains love from special loved ones, but the most important is the love I have for myself
Giving me a safe shelter when I have needed it
Comfort and rest
You can have it all
"Just" need to open up for it
It all comes down to being able to love yourself
Feeling worthy of love
Your own love to yourself
Respecting yourself
We all are from Love, of course we all are worthy love, breathe that in so you can rest in that, you too

The Donner Railroad tunnels. Built in 1866 and closed for train traffic in 1993. A very fascinating hike full of historic achievement and graffiti. Most of which was actually very well done. It was 5.8 miles from the entrance to the end and back. Bring a flashlight and a tripod. Its a photographic dream with light coming through the narrow windows and bouncing off the diverse rock walls. Maybe not worthy of your bucket list but recommended if your in the Donner summit area.
Spoke to the owner and he stated that the work was "finished" and it stays like this. Taken at the Oshkosh Shakedown; a wonderful display of old vehicles and aircraft with a doo-whop theme. HTT
