Macro Mondays: Bottle(s)

a little bottle and feathers inside an old Half Pint Milk bottle (which is 6cm diameter).

My Dad used to say: "You're blood's worth bottling'"😂 I just store feathers I have collected😂

Sometimes you can sit and wait for an interesting sunset and the sky just simply dims and darkens. Then there are times like this when it is worth the wait. Or in this case, it was worth the wade into the water to capture the reflections in the foreground.

Those with long memories will remember me under this moniker before we made the move to Bangkok in 2018. This was always one of our favourite evening walks, getting out of town and enjoying the view of the South Coast from Beachy Head to the Isle of Wight. It is a great viewpoint - Iron Age people knew a few things about strategic points and it was an obvious place to build the hill fort at Cissbury

Worthing Pier, West Sussex

Worthing Pier is a public pleasure pier in Worthing, West Sussex, England. Designed by Sir Robert Rawlinson, it was opened on 12 April 1862 and remains open to the public.

Another shot from my visit in May.

Known as "The Vista" this elegant walk takes you quite far down the hill from the Walled Garden to a beautiful viewing area of the Hudson River and the Palisades across the way. About 3/4s of the way down you will see remnants of the rose garden off to the right and a decorative gate that leads you to a lower street and the Greystone train station on Metro North. At present that gate is locked and the entry is not used.

A view of a nice sunset from a recent trip to Worthing to photograph the pier.

The Temple Island in Henley-On-Thames is a beautiful little spot tucked away amongst the more exalted bustle of the Henley Regatta. I first caught wind of this place a few years ago when I had been a spectator at the Henley Regatta. Although I wanted to take some shots, there were not a lot of cloud cover to make it worth my while.

As a landscape photographer, everyone would nod their heads in unison that whilst sunny weather is preferred, all sun with little clouds does not really make for some compelling viewing especially at dusk.

So I went back thinking I should be here on other day when the clouds would play ball. Thing is you do not need too much of wind either or your reflection would be shot. So in all, there are a lot of factors that need to come together to get a good photograph of a place. There wasn't much of a wind blowing although there were a lot of boats going backwards and forwards which leaves a big wake every now and then. So you have to time the shot in between such instances.

In all, it was a decent evening's work at the temple island. Midsummer is a good time to be here with the sun setting adjacent to this location.

CP 651 was the first train to blast through the foot of snow on the Belleville sub this afternoon. Definitely a spectacle to watch it pass. Here it is at mile 34 of the Belleville Subdivision

Our laneway wasn't plowed at the time so I had to hike about 5km to get to the tracks. I'd say it was worth it

All of this,

Everything,

Just to arrive here

Nothing at all,

Was more worth it.

You,

Are worth

Absolutely Everything."

" You won't believe what I've been through " To quote a David Bowie song.

Yesterday after we left Moana we took a stroll through the bush to the beautiful Coal Creek falls in Runanga, which is just north of Greymouth. For anyone who wants to do this walk the DOC sign says 2 hours return, we both decided that included the 40 minutes you would probably spend a at the falls if you were a photographer.

Nice to get some sand detail and patterns along with a reflection of the pier in a pool.

The sunset helps of course :)

I did a very quick online check, and there are at least fifty songs where the mighty Ford Mustang gets a mention - with Mustang Sally being the first on the list. Which reminds me - I have a fellow village resident called Sally! Another shot for another day!

By contrast, my real car, a Mazda 2, features in one song (and that surprised me that it even got a mention in anything!) by someone called meetcute!

his magnificent chalet, sumptuously flowered, is worth the detour. When you get closer, you discover an entire open-air museum, full of little magical characters (elves, dwarves, and others) lovingly sculpted and placed in a magnificent setting.

A world of beauty and taste!

I wanted to wait until I got home before I edited this one. I decided it needed the big screen to get it just the way I want it. The sunrise on this morning was exactly what I had been hoping to get. Just enough cloud to create interest in the sky but also some strong sunlight from between the clouds hitting the cliffs. This one is an image I am really pleased with and will definitely get the honour of a very large print to hang on the wall of my man cave! The Duncansby Stacks, taken at sunrise on the cliff tops of Caithness in Scotland.

Having been given permission back out onto the main, the engineer on the "Rosario Local" throttles up his two SD40s while the brakeman waits to re-line the derail once the short train is clear. They've just finished switching Nustar Asphalt, which can be seen in the far right of this shot. This track is part of the pre-1966 AT&SF alignment, which generally followed the Rio Galisteo from near its confluence with the Rio Grande towards Lamy.

This was the culmination of a one year long desire and about a four hour wait. I had seen this shot in my head ever since beginning my time qualifying out of Albuquerque, but it was either "they don't run up here anymore" or (once regular, predictable service resumed) I was always working when this job was working. Everything fell together today though, and it was worth waiting for!

Walking around the old quarter in Barcelona, with its narrow and dark streets, due to their medieval origin, I came across two unusual elements: two comfortable armchairs. I decided they were worth a photograph, so I shot. From the beginning I knew it would be a bit of a failure because the light on the right would become the main focus (does it?). However, I'm pleased about the result. I decided it had to be in monochrome, and the image is slightly grained. Please, pay attention to the windows and the arch, they are also typical in the zone.

By the way, I'm very busy currently, and I don't have the time to comment on your captures. I can only take a brief look at them. The same with the photos in the groups I joined. The situation will change soon, I hope.

A long and steep walk... but worth it for the view!

A lovely morning at Worthing Beach. The sunrise was not spectacular, but the light was still glorious, and as the sun rose over the pier, everything was washed in a touch of gold.

After waiting a year, the gardenias are still blooming in perfusion, now in both front yard and back yard gardens...What a joy

An afternoon in Worthing - these old structures make interesting photos. There is a cafe on top of this one
