A female Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) and her two young cubs wander the shores looking for some food on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. This family group was observed during our trip to Glendale Cove off Knight Inlet on a scheduled Grizzly Bear Tour with Tide Rip Grizzly Tours out of Telegraph Cove on the north end of Vancouver Island.

A Northern Plains Red Fox (Vulpes fulva) pup sits at the edge of its den awaiting the return of one of the adults with some food for it and its siblings. The den was located in a pasture on the edge of the boreal woods north of Thorhild, Alberta Canada.

Celui-ci est accroché dans une rue de Paris…
Précisément rue du Chevaleret dans le XIIIe arrondissement.
On peut découvrir sur le sentier du Cosmopolitan Culture Park la tête du CosmoGolem, le premier et à ce jour unique exemplaire en pierre de ce géant symbole des Droits des Enfants. Une sculpture de dix mètres constituée de vingt-cinq blocs de marbre pesant plus de quatre cents tonnes. Une tête ouverte pour libérer vos pensées, pour garder un esprit critique.
Le projet CosmoGolem a pour ambition de donner une voix et une identité aux enfants défavorisés. Il exprime l’espoir et la foi en l’avenir. Plus de quarante CosmoGolems ont depuis lors été construits dans le monde. Du Zimbabwe à la Belgique, d’Inde en Équateur, le CosmoGolem donne un visage aux droits des enfants.
You can discover on the path of the Cosmopolitan Culture Park the head of the CosmoGolem, the first and to date only stone example of this giant symbol of Children's Rights. A ten-meter sculpture made of twenty-five blocks of marble weighing more than four hundred tons. An open head to free your thoughts, to keep a critical mind.

South Ponte Vedra Beach
The ruddy turnstone is a small wading bird, one of two species of turnstone in the genus Arenaria. The scientific name is from Latin. The genus name arenaria derives from arenarius, "inhabiting sand, from arena, "sand". The specific interpres means "messenger"; when visiting Gotland in 1741, Linnaeus thought that the Swedish word Tolk "interpreter" applied to this species, but in the local dialect the word means "legs" and is used for the redshank.
It is now classified in the sandpiper family Scolopacidae but was formerly sometimes placed in the plover family Charadriidae. It is a highly migratory bird, breeding in northern parts of Eurasia and North America and flying south to winter on coastlines almost worldwide. It is the only species of turnstone in much of its range and is often known simply as turnstone.
Na de inzet van de 110 350 van Lokpartner op de RE19 en vervolgens de langdurige buitendienststelling van de Hollandstrëcke dachten weinig dat het ersatzverkeer weer terug zou komen en (in mijn mening) een nog veel vettere vorm. Kort voordat de route weer openging werd bekend dat WFL als ersatzverkeer zou gaan rijden op de RE19 met een BR 112 en tweede generatie Dosto’s uit Oost-Duitsland! Als grote liefhebber van Materieel uit het voormalige Oost-Duitsland was het enthousiasme dan ook zeer hoog, alleen was dat van korte duur toen bleek dat de locomotief ongunstig richting het oosten zou staan. Wat zou betekenen dat die helaas niet in de zon vastgelegd zou kunnen worden…
tot ongeveer twee weken geleden toen de locomotief oppeens aan de andere kant van de trein stond! Vanaf dat moment werd er een oogje uitgehouden voor de perfecte dag waar ik zowel vrij zou hebben van school en het weer dusdanig goed zo zijn om een poging te wagen. En uiteindelijk kwam die dag op 2 Oktober (ook meteen de dag dat deze trein voor het laatst gepland zou rijden)
Eenmaal aangekomen bij de beoogde stek in Praest kon er ook nog het een en het ander qua goederentrein afgewacht worden, niks speciaals. Maar net na half 6 kwam daar vervandering in!
Het is 17:38 als de 112 006 met 4 Dosto’s tevoorschijn komt en de twee fotografen bij de “Hollandse Dijk” passeert als trein 20044. Net voordat de trein arriveert te Praest om voor het laatst te halteren op deze spoorlijn.

This shot was taken on the edge of Jasper, Alberta, Canada, many years before the fire we had in 2024 but hopefully it will regenerate over time.

Begin deze maand is de 101 127 van DB Fernverkehr bestickerd in een nogal Retro outfitje. De loc heeft voor het 100 jarig jubileum van misschien wel een van de bekendste serie stoomlocs ooit: de Baureihe 01, een speciale kleurstelling gekregen, waar het draaistel van een 01 locomotief wordt afgebeeld, en rijdt dus sinds kort in het zwart haar IC-Diensten door heel Duitsland.
Op 22 Juli 2025 was ik weer een dagje op pad in Nordrhein-Westfalen. De week daarvoor wist ik de locomotief al vast te leggen op station Dusseldorf, maar aangezien dit in mijn mening wel de fraaiste 101 uitvoering is die nu rondrijdt, stond een zonplaat van deze loc hoog op mijn bucketlist. Dus besloot ik na een gefaalde poging om een 232, 218 en de 145 040 van TRI vast te leggen naar Angermund te gaan en mezelf op de 101 te focussen. Qua zon was het de hele dag enorm wisselvallig. De ene minuut was er volle zon, en de andere minuut een dikke fotowolk. Dus moest de wolkenloterij ook een keer worden gewonnen.
Deste dichterbijder de doorkomst van de 101 127 kwam, deste beter het qua bewolking werd, met achter mij volle zon en voor mij zwarte onweerswolken. Een paar minuten na 6 werd er in de verte een snelle, donkere neus waarnomen, dat kon maar een loc zijn, maar wat er ook vanachter werd waargenomen was een RRX treinstel, en nog meer wolken. Ik zag de poging al helemaal in het water vallen, maar toch besloot ik klaar te staan in het geval van een wonder…
Om 18:08, Precies tussenin de RRX en de wolk passeerde de 101 127 de twee fotografen met 200 Kilometer per uur. Nog geen minuut daarna schoof de wolk voor de zon, en kwam die ook niet meer terug. Na een dag van mislukkingen kon er dus toch nog een mooie zonplaat worden gemaakt. En kon er tevreden terug naar huis worden gereisd.
