World Tuberculosis Day, observed on 24 March each year, is designed to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis (TB) and efforts to eliminate the disease.

2003 was a rewarding time for Tuberculosis control in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh. The struggle against the disease continues since 2000 in Pakistan and is one of the success stories of Pakistan's health sector

Each year the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognizes March 24th as World TB Day. This date commemorates the date in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes tuberculosis (TB), which is still a leading cause of death from infectious disease worldwide. The US slogan for the 2012 observance is "Stop TB in my Lifetime." Because tuberculosis today remains an epidemic in much of the world, causing the deaths of several million people each year (mostly in developing countries), the Wyoming Honor Farm medical department felt it was important to help build awareness in their workplace about the facts of tuberculosis. They had t-shirts made with the slogan printed on them "Stop TB in my Lifetime" and they also created a TB trivia quiz which consisted of several TB facts.

We have partnered with the Wyoming Department of Corrections and the Wyoming Department of Health (WDOH). The correctional prison inmate population is a targeted population because TB is an airborne disease and there are such large groups of people living in confined areas. In our partnership with WDOH, we receive all supplies necessary to complete TB skin testing just as long as we receive the required training offered by the Wyoming Department of Health on TB Risk Assessment and Skin testing. 100% of our inmate population, including staff, is assessed annually for tuberculosis.
