The Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, is a music festival taking place on June 21.

Amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets ad many free concerts are organized, making all genres of music accessible to the public.

Bonne fête de la Musique à tous!

A spontaneous street capture during the Fête de la Musique in Paris, at Point Éphémère. Taken without warning or posing, this candid moment shows a blond-haired man in a grey tank top walking past a wooden fence, while in the background a young woman in a yellow "Brasil" t-shirt sits on the ground checking her phone. A genuine urban scene filled with music, culture, and summer vibes.

Remembrance of a nice sunny afternoon in Paris. It's World Music Day. Near Champs Elysees, pianos are placed at the disposal of public.

In a secluded corner, a guy plays wonderfully classic. The few spectators seem fascinated.

The pacifist message from Ana Perez Grassano mixes with music, and inflicts us its evidence.

We are very happy to be part of the World Music Day celebrations and are participating in a multi-club collaboration organized by NITE.

We are the first stop of a club crawl with 4 locations/4 venues/4 showcases of music in SL.

At the chamber we decided to once again go all BOOGIE NIGHTS. Throw on the 70ies glitter and disco garb and join us.

Music starts at 12 pm SLT as usual. The official party starts at 1:30 until 3 pm. After that we will move on to The Drip and after that to The Continental. The finale is at the NITE venue.

Rage : 12 - 2:15 pm SLT

The U.S. Embassy’s American Center Jerusalem held a Concert for Tolerance in memory of Daniel Pearl, the U.S. journalist kidnapped and brutally murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. Acclaimed U.S musician Daryl Davis together with the local Israeli rock band Ground Heights delivered a riveting concert of blues, Jazz and Ethiopian music interspersed with Davis’ anecdotal accounts of his interactions with members of the Ku Klux Klan in which he persuaded over 50 clansmen to leave the blatantly racist organization.

I was setting myself to take a picture of this guy (another one!), a Harvard Square regular who sits near the kiosk and creates science fiction and fantasy pictures with cans of spray paint. As I did, this girl with her face painted and all those feathers in her hair walked past me and into the small crowd that was watching the guy work. All I could think was what a shot I'd missed! But then she approached him and they started talking . . .

A showcase of diverse musical cultures featuring MIT ensembles in performance with master musicians Sumie Kaneko, Samuel Solomon and Lamine Tour, World Music Day brought together traditional and new music from Bali, Senegal, and Japan. Highlights included world premieres by Evan Ziporyn and Sam Schmetterer, traditional Balinese and Senegalese dance, a solo set by koto master Sumie Kaneko, and the debut of Cambridge’s new youth gamelan, Anak Tika.

I took this picture just after lunch. We had been for a while in the basement to avoid being outdoors. The view was really unbelievable. Almost nobody was walking in the street. I was "happy" to have one N95 mask (although newspapers say there are enough masks, you can't find any in the shops - out of masks). The situation was really bad on June 21th, 2013 in Singapore.

A colorful couple (one shod, one barefoot) swaying to the music of McAlister Drive in Brattle Square. Taken on Make Music / Harvard Square Day, part of the world-wide Make Music Day.

A summer theme on Make Music / Harvard Square Day, part of the world-wide Make Music Day (World Music day / Fete de la Musique Day). These folks (there were six of them) were musicians of a sort -- the drummer's main instrument was a suitcase. Their summer theme was enhanced by the water wings on the drummer, the water ring over the accordionist's cap, and the beach towel on the backup vocalist.

This photo was taken during the Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) in Paris.

Happy World Music Day ; Fête de la Musique

I didn't even know there was a day like this before today. I mean I've surely thought there should be a day to celebrate music (because, well, we have a day for everything, don't we!)

So, this is kind of my tribute.. I love my new Sennheiser HD228 headphones. :-)
