I printed four 3" x 5" images of a tidal pool and added a piece of strip piecing to each one and sewed them together in a spiral configuration.
I am in the process of machining the base fabric to a Calico backing.
Done of this stitching will be overlaid at a later stage by applique but I wanted some texture and pattern underneath.
The symbols I have used represent policy changes and "U" turns .
This piece will be about the policies introduced during the premiership of Margaret Thatcher

i draw a lot of flowers in my sketch book
or on random computer paper
but whenever i end up using a certain drawing
i always have to tear it out...
otherwise i get side tracked looking at all the others.

This is a piece I painted when I was probably 10. I am putting him back together, filling in the gaps, remaking the base and starting over with fresh paint. It should be fun.
Interesting, isn't it? You can underpaint with the complementary color of the finished work. It adds a certain glow to the finished painting. It's an old, old, academic painting procedure.

on muslin, design is about 8 inches across. Redrawn on paper and then ironed onto fabric. This is a from a mini mini element on an image of a ceramic tile found on NYPL's website. LOVE that website!!!
The idea with the sealant is to deny crumbs and granules a place to hide. Yes, I'm actually going to use this as a Bento. Yes, use. I already ruined the "collectable value" of this piece by modding it.
I removed the supporting armature a bit prematurely on this construction and the result is a leaning mugphlute...Working with pulled and twisted clay can result in stresses that result in the clay attempting to shrink/warp back into its previous state (thus the term 'clay memory').
I may still be able to alter/trim the base in order to re-establish a better center of gravity. I'd sure hate to see this much work end up in the slop bucket (Akkk!).
