What will you leave behind?

A pencil teapot for Mobilia- I hope I can figure out how to make it work. As in, finish it, haha.

Progress - the work on the back takes way longer than the front. Such a relief when it is done.

This shows machine embroidery on to a sandwich of chiffon, knitting and a cotton base.

The wool fibres of the knitted piece have been trapped behind the chiffon, but when I burn away the chiffon with a heat gun, some of the fibres will spring back.

ensayos para la serie "caged"

This shows a close up of the machine stitching. I have put a layer of chiffon over the velvet which has been embellished with embossing crystals.

Some of the crystals are very thick so I avoided stitching over them.

I will now burn away the chiffon with a heat gun.

It will become a wide angle pinhole camera.

Progress.

First four fillings complete

Since the release of Sayuri I've been working on a softer skin again, a softer version of Eva if you will. Though I try to make my skins look "real", I find my personal preference fighting that all the way, and I want to stick to the handdrawn/pastel look.

For the interested: The bikini is from Artilleri and the hair is from Fri.day

This morning's view. There is no use tidying up as I'm in mid production ( excuse)

getting ready to tie in another thread & work the 4th pass, then the beaded band will be rolled together and woven into a round rope

some beads for another project have started sneaking onto my work tray (pretty pink porcelain donut)

BUT now i'm going to crochet, I think I will finish my green scarf today. I don't feel any real urgency to finish this beadwork, just enjoying the process, very zen.

Work in progress for some ATC cards.

Close-up of new knee layout.

I started to sculpt my first ball jointed doll 6 years ago. He is not finished yet. But I'm going to finish him in Zbrush (to sculpt missing parts and joints).

we call it the "busy bee" art studio..that's why the bees are there.

I am re-visiting stumpwork and I have unearthed some old pictures from a time when I used to teach this subject.

I have put aside my womens' suffrage studies to ready myself for the General Election which should be in the early part of this year.

I have always made a piece for the Election, and this year I thought that I would revisit stumpwork and in particular the padded faces I used to embroider. These would be interesting made into political jewellery.

Watch this space!

I sat for two and a half hours last night, painting the watercolour paper with water and rubbing it with my finger.

This had two results: it broke up the surface of the paper, so that the paint will sink in, and it gave a distressed effect to the whole piece.

Also, my finger was sore!

It was whilst I was waiting for paint to dry on another project that I spied an abandoned canvas in my workroom.

I coated it with tissue paper, acrylic paint and gesso, and then added various paint effects on top.

After sanding it with a sanding block I added tea stains, buttons and dyed lace.

This canvas will hold my collection of "glitzy" necklaces and is destined for my bedroom.

It is a work in progress as I have lots more memorabilia to add.
