Battery Kinzie is perhaps the most impressive battery at Fort Worden. Over 300 feet long and three stories tall, it contains 19 rooms and several winding passages. Completed in 1910 it was the last of the major batteries to be built at the fort, and included many technological improvements that had been made over the last ten years.
The battery structure contained most of the facilities that were needed to operate its two 12-inch disappearing guns, including a power plant, a plotting room, a battery command station and extensive ammunition handling and storage facilities.
Went to Fort Warden to shoot the lighthouse with my drone but when I pulled it out of my car to fly, I discovered I had left the mini SD card at home. Plan "B" was to shoot some silly selfies in the dungeon like atmosphere of the nearby Kinzie battery.
Île Schnäggeninseli, Berne.
L’île Schnäggeninseli baigne dans les eaux turquoise du lac de Brienz et peut être louée pour des évènements privés. Jusqu’à ce jour, personne ne sait à qui ou à quoi elle doit son nom d"’île aux escargots". Selon certains dires, elle pourrait tenir cette appellation du fait de sa petite taille, ou d’un élevage d’escargots qui aurait été tenu par des moines.
La "Schnäggeninseli" (ile aux escargots) en tant que seule île enregistrée dans le canton de Berne appartient aux Seeburg. Située à 250m du rivage, elle est protégée comme site naturel au niveau cantonal pour son intérêt paysager. Une petite chapelle, qui dépend du château de Seeburg s'y élève.

Die Insel Schnäggeninseli badet im türkisfarbenen Brienzersee und kann für private Veranstaltungen gemietet werden. Bis heute weiß niemand, wer oder was der Insel den Namen verdankt. Nach einigen Berichten könnte sie wegen ihrer geringen Größe oder einer Schneckenzucht, die von Mönchen gehalten worden wäre, benannt werden.
Die "Schnäggeninseli" als einzige registrierte Insel im Kanton Bern gehört zur Seeburg.
250 m vom Ufer entfernt, ist es auf kantonaler Ebene wegen seines landschaftlichen Interesses als Naturschutzgebiet geschützt. Dort ist eine kleine Kapelle errichtet, die vom Schloss Seeburg abhängt.

Schnäggeninseli Island bathes in the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz and can be rented for private events. To this day, no one knows who or what it owes its name to snail island. According to some accounts, she could be named because of her small size, or a breeding of snails that would have been held by monks.
The "Schnäggeninseli" (snail island) as the only registered island in the canton of Bern belongs to the Seeburg. Located 250m from the shore, it is protected as a natural site at the cantonal level for its landscape interest. A small chapel, which depends on the castle of Seeburg is raised there.

Valle de Malpaso is a viewpoint over the idyllic landscape and valley of Haria, place of 1000 palm trees, in the northeast of Lanzarote. This viewing point has now been developed for tourism and a glass platform has been built, as I read earlier.
Valle de Malpaso ist ein Aussichtspunkt über der idyllischen Landschaft und dem Tal von Haria, Ort der 1000 Palmen, im Nordosten von Lanzarote. Inzwischen ist dieser Aussichtspunkt touristisch erschlossen und eine Glasplattform errichtet worden, wie ich vorhin gelesen habe.
Vorige week had de Oberpfalz een heerlijk zonnig weekend. Na enig twijfelen werd vrijdag weer vertrokken uit Zweden om daar enkele dagen van te profiteren. Het hoofddoel moge duidelijk zijn: de RE 2, welke sinds eind 2023 met 218 wordt gereden tussen Hof en Regensburg. De voortekenen waren niet heel goed: op donderdag en vrijdag waren er diverse uitgevallen treinen. Het paste echter prima in de agenda en er was nog wat Interrail over, dus waarom niet :p
Momenteel is er geen werk voor de 218's van Bw Kempten in de Allgäu, omdat de Intercity's nog tot begin maart niet kunnen rijden daar. Zodoende duiken er momenteel veel van hun loccen op tussen Hof en Regensburg. Ook de blauw/beige 218 446 en de oriëntrode 218 406 hangen in die regio rond, maar die waren de laatste dagen voor vertrek niet actief. De loccen worden echter regelmatig doorgewisseld en al snel bleek dat de 218 446 vrijdagmiddag in omloop kwam. Zodoende zien we op zaterdag de loc in Nabburg met RE 4861 van Hof naar München Hbf onder toeziend oog van talloze fotografen.
Last week, the Oberpfalz had a lovely sunny weekend. After a few doubts, I left Sweden on Friday to enjoy 218s on the RE 2 between Hof and Regensburg. Unfortunately, a few trains had been cancelled on Thursday and Friday there, which would be a shame if that continued during the weekend. However, it fit nicely in the agenda and I had some Interrail left, so why not :p
Currently, the 218s of Bw Kempten cannot be used in the Allgäu, as the Intercity trains to Oberstdorf are cancelled until the beginning of March. As a result, many of their locos currently help out between Regensburg and Hof. At the moment, that includes their blue/beige 218 446 and their orient red 218 406, but those locos seemed inactive upon departure. However, already on Friday afternoon, the 218 446 joined on the RE 2. On Saturday, we could therefore see the loco in Nabburg with RE 4861 from Hof to München Hbf, together with many other photographers.

The Sanctuary of Truth is a magnificent temple in Pattaya, Thailand, that stands as a tribute to traditional Thai architecture and craftsmanship. The temple is entirely made of wood, with intricate carvings depicting various Hindu and Buddhist deities, as well as ancient Thai mythological figures. The construction of the Sanctuary of Truth began in 1981 and is still ongoing. The temple covers an area of over two hectares and is over 100 meters tall. It was designed by a local businessman named Lek Viriyaphant. The Sanctuary of Truth is not affiliated with any specific religion, but rather serves as a symbol of the unity of all religions and beliefs. It is a peaceful and tranquil place where visitors can reflect and appreciate the beauty of Thai culture and tradition. The Sanctuary of Truth also serves as a cultural and educational center. It hosts various workshops and events throughout the year, aimed at promoting traditional Thai arts and crafts.

Ook zagen we in Jenbach dat er een houttrein werd gereed gemaakt om naar Binderholz te Fügen te gaan. De trein werd die dag getrokken door de D14 van de Zillertalbahn en bestond uit 5 wagens beladen met boomstammen. Deze 5 wagens stonden op speciale bokken om 1435mm wagens mee te kunnen nemen over een 760mm lijn. Deze trein reed meerdere malen per dag op en neer tussen Jenbach en Fügen. Hier komt de trein het net de bocht door rijden enkele meters voor het station van Schlitters-Bruck am Ziller. Hier zou de trein aan de kant genomen worden om de reguliere trein voor te laten gaan.

One of the ordinary and yet unique train of the Zillertalbahn was the woodtrains between Jenbach and Binderholz in Fügen. This train consisted out of 5 normal gauge 1435mm woodtransport wagons, while they are standing on special transporter wagons for narrow gauge 760mm. On the 20th of August 2012 it was just a regular train, each and every day. This train left after the steam train Jenbach and passes the regular train in Strass, while he arrived at Schlitters-Bruck am Ziller he passed the two photographers waiting. In the station of Schlitters-Bruck am Ziller he got overtaken by the regular train to Mayerhofen.
Die 1104 der Niederländischen Eisenbahn rangierte am 16. August 1989 mit ein paar VAM Müllwagen im Bahnhof Zwolle. Nachdem die restliche 20 VAM Wagen (welche im Bild nicht zu sehen sind) angehängt worden waren, ging es für den Zug in das 50 Kilometer entfernte Wijster.
De 1104 was op 16 augustus 1989 bezig een aantal VAM wagons te rangeren om deze voor een twintigtal andere te zetten. Aansluitend ging het naar de vuilverbranding in het 50 kilometer verwijderde Wijster in Drenthe.
Dutch engine 1104 was busy shunting a few VAM cars (carrying garbage) in Zwolle on August 16th 1989. After the remaining twenty cars had been connected to these sixs, the train would leave for Wijster and taken to the incinerating plant...
Same as the photo i posted yesterday but instead of 9 frames this is 15 frames combined with a faster shutter speed to show more movement in the water. I also adjusted white balance to
show more cool tones in the image as I was freezing myself.
