The Mexican Wolf is a subspecies of the Gray Wolf. It is native to North America, where it is the rarest and most genetically distinct subspecies. In 1976, the Mexican Wolf was declared an endangered subspecies and has remained so ever since. Today, an estimated 300 Mexican Wolves survive in 49 facilities at the United States and Mexico, however none are known to exist in the wild.

Its not every day a wolf passes your car. This safari had both big brown and black bears and several wolves in the same area. The bears on the right are seperated from the rest - they were adolescents (the cubs were kept close to the entrance).
