Heron Tower, 110 Bishopsgate, (seen here under construction with the crane to its left) is about to overtake in height Tower 42 (to its immediate right) to become the tallest building in the City of London (the historic “square mile”, the financial district).

In photographs or films depicting the buildings of the financial district such as the “Gherkin”, it is currently (2010) possible to determine whether they are recently shot by looking for signs of Heron Tower, which is usually absent.

4-Sub 4720 leading the 1724 Waterloo-Dorking between Wimbledon and Raynes Park, 1-6-72.

4-Sub units 4284 and 4746 form the 1724 Waterloo-Guildford via Cobham shortly after passing through Wimbledon, 1-6-72. Most trains on the Cobham line were formed of EPB stock at the time and the carriage workings listed this service as 8 EPB.

2-Hap 6006, running with the Driving Trailer Composite from SR 2-Hap 5628 due to accident damage, leads the 1722 Waterloo-Alton between Wimbledon and Raynes Park, 1-6-72. The remainder of the train comprises two 4-Vep units, the second of which was still in blue livery at the time.
