29 Seconds. Sound on.

Milkyway over Crater Lake on the Forth of July. It was a cold and windy forth with a lot of cloud movement. It did clear enough to capture the Milkyway. The orange glow on the clouds is light pollution from the Crater Lake Lodge.

From astroblog.cosmobc.com: "NGC 7380, also known as the Wizard Nebula, is a mesmerizing masterpiece of the universe. Its magnificent structure and colorful appearance make it a fascinating subject for astronomers and space enthusiasts alike.

The nebula is composed of a cluster of stars, which illuminate the gas and dust clouds surrounding them, creating a stunning display of hues ranging from deep reds to vibrant blues and greens. The intricate details of the nebula’s structure are visible in high-resolution images, revealing ornate filaments and swirls of gas and dust.

Its unique shape, resembling a wizard casting a spell, adds to its mystical allure. It is truly a wonder of the universe, and its intricate structure and vibrant colors continue to captivate and inspire us."

Hi Aliens!

As many of you may know, Space Cadet got the opportunity to participate as one of a bunch of absolutely brilliant sponsors this year at Wizarding Faire!

Stop by to grab you and your buddies or maybe even your grade school crush a mug of butter beer, on the house!

This set comes with both L&R holdable butter beer and a friends (or couples) pose to snap some fun shots with too!

You can also try your hand in this year's scavenger hunt! Every designer participating this year has set out a fun little cheapie for you to find around the Mischief Managed sim!

Teleport to Wizarding Faire now!

The great disappointment in our trip was the wildfire smoke. You can't see the beautiful blue color of the lake in this shot.

The Naboo N-1 Starfighter has always been one of my favorite ships in Star Wars. So when it appeared in the Book of Boba Fett, I instantly knew I had to build it! I started with Inthert's model from Brickvault and made some modifications to fit its run-down look in the series. Then one thing led to another and I started building this scene by bending walls out of 1x2 bricks.

This is the Wizard Nebula, named mainly for looking like a wizard wearing a pointed hat with his arms stretched out. It was a very fun image to capture and edit.

Hope you aren't getting too sick of seeing Crater Lake images. I tend to post what I've photographed most recently, and Crater Lake was my most recent trip.

I had finished photographing sunrise and early morning images at Watchman Overlook and was driving along the Rim Road looking for more photo ops when I stopped at this one overlook I'd bypassed upon my first arrival, a few days prior.

This is Crater Lake and the Island below is Wizard Island. Last summer we were heading to California on a trip to see my girlfriend's cousin in the Bay area and decided to stop by here on the way down. We only had one evening there with little to no choice on the timing. This meant that whatever weather we got, we got. Unfortunately for the landscape photographer, we got clear skies haha. When we got there, we looked around and found a small peak to the north of the parking lot that looked like a decent place to hike up. When we got up there, we were able to find a good lookout that allowed for a decent framing of the lake and island below. We hiked back down and wandered around until sunset and then headed back up the incline. When we got there, another couple was already there and in the very spot that I wanted! Shoot... I was able to find another pretty decent spot and we waited for the sun to drop. Fortunately, as the sun went down, the couple decided to head out so went back to my original spot and this is the image that came out of it. As per my usual, this is a very large stacked, panoramic image. I cannot remember how many photos I took to make it, I just know that it is very large haha. All said and done, this is an OK image when seen on a small computer screen, but due to the detail in it, I have a feeling that it will be pretty impressive when printed large. Regardless, I hope you all can enjoy it as well!

Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. According to its Wikipedia article, Wizard Island's summit is about 750' above Crater Lake. The island can be reached only by a boat operated by a concessionaire during the summer. It looks like a lonely (and cold) place.

Picture was taken at Crater Lake National Park

This Building was closed in the 1980ts by the looks of this room someone had been living here. There was a pots and pans kettle mini fridge and microwave in here. the word Wizard was all-over the place . And this was wrote on the door . Please enjoy yourself in this room Do not move /destroy anything please as it takes great effort to retrieve these items love form WIZARD .

The famous Wizard Nebula, but my version. This is 46 hrs and 50 min. of stacked SHO images with 1.5 hrs of RGB stars. It's 7,200 light years away, in the constellation Cepheus, which is near the north star. Not visible to the naked eye, but can't escape my telescope ! SkyWatcher RQ6R-Pro mount, Esprit 120mm, QHY268M, Optolong 3mm SHO filters

This target is a sorcerer’s cauldron of star formation with a new sparkling jewel shrouded behind nearly every glowing structure and even behind the dark areas representing the wizard’s hands. The tableau is energized by intense radiation and strong stellar winds emanating from the bounty of young stars, lighting up clouds of molecular oxygen along with omnipresent hydrogen gas.

I shot two nights with the one-shot color camera, then switched to monochrome for two nights of four minute narrowband exposures, altogether about 10 hours of data. The final picture is a blend of the two approaches with the color camera providing red-orange color tones while the narrowband frames contribute the blue accents.

Considering this a Rejected Build.

I made this in...July apparently, and I wasn't able to get any good photos of it (at least the closeups I wanted). The build was for Guilds of Historica on Eurobricks; I was going to us it as a story vehicle to introduce my character(s).

I've had this picture sitting around privately on my photostream for months now, but I figured I show it off. This is the only photo I now have of the build--a few weeks back my laptop crashed, and I lost everything (like all my photo hard-copies...) but a few things I managed to save (I got some Sentinel Images, but that's it). So this will have to do.

In other news, I'm still building away for Brickworld Fort Wayne 2015. Expected online post date is Oct. 22/23. Incidentally, I've not yet decided if I'll be posting all of it...as it turns out I don't actually have time to build a tables worth from scratch, so I was forced to finish up a WIP I was building for Brickworld Chicago 2016...not sure if I want to spoil that yet! And Monday comes my Creations for Charity build; just waiting on parts--but I'm very happy with it, and excited for everyone to see the finished product.

Wizard Island

Crater Lake National Park

Oregon

July 2023

Wizard Island is a captivating natural wonder nestled within the pristine waters of Crater Lake National Park. Located in the southern part of Crater Lake. This enchanting island is a volcanic cinder cone that emerged over 7,000 years ago during a series of volcanic eruptions. Rising majestically from the deep, crystal-clear waters of the lake, Wizard Island is shrouded in an aura of mystique, drawing visitors from far and wide to witness its otherworldly beauty. The island's unique conical shape, covered in lush greenery and dotted with fumaroles, lends an ethereal charm to the landscape. Accessible by boat, exploring Wizard Island offers a magical experience, allowing travelers to connect with the region's ancient geological history and enjoy breathtaking vistas surrounding this mystical gem within Crater Lake National Park.

Sunrise in Bandon, Oregon

The Wizard Nebula is an open cluster of very young stars, most of them less than 5 million years old. The stars have corralled nearby hydrogen gas into this shape of an enormous sorcerer greeting two young acolytes.

Themed well, still not Disney :) I love how the buildings are all slightly crooked and used forced perspective to really evoke a mood.

First Light with the AP 1100 GTO. I am truly impressed with its performance...everything just gets easier. The guiding was within one arc-second but there was still a little bit of star traveling in the images. At the end of the session, I realised, that the guider did not correct moves under 0.5 arc-seconds, I may reduce this tolerance.
