Surprised to witness the ungainly spectacle of this stunning water bird clambering on to dry land! This didn't last long before it slipped back into its comfort zone amongst the waves. Norfolk coast in late November (UK) (5446)
Knowing when to walk away,
is wisdom.
Being able to,
is courage.
Walking away with your head held high,
is dignity.

Get off my tree!!!
This Brown Creeper has been a regular visitor to my yard in Chester County, PA right through the Winter. Recently I noticed a second Brown Creeper and I thought they might be a pair until I witnessed my resident bird adopting this threat display when the second one got too close, and then subsequently chasing the intruder away.

PS. Some people have suggested that this my be not be aggression, but possibly courting behavior.
After a long day driving through Denali National Park in Alaska, we went to dinner and our waiter happened to mention that "the lights are out." We were thinking the electricity somewhere went out and then realized what he was talking about. I jumped in the car and drove north until I found the best display of Northern Lights that I have seen. It is amazing to me how, if you are looking, all things witness that there is a Supreme Creator.

some years ago in kruger park,i witnessed to a death match.
a leopard decided to get a complicate meal, an huge porcupine.
the battle continued for an hour.
sometimes the leopards die after the quills injuries, sometimes leopard wins... but one thing is sure,
the leopard can decide to abandone the fight whenever wants.
the porcupine not, it's too slow...it can just try to resist and to inflict pain to the enemy ,forcing the leopard to leave.
for the porcupine it's just a death match and will sell dearly the skin!

The Alcázar of Segovia, dating from the early 12th century, is one of the most famous medieval castles in the world and one of the most visited monuments in Spain. Twenty-two kings have stayed there, as well as some of the most prominent figures in history.
Palace and fortress of the Kings of Castile, its design reflects the splendour of the court during the Middle Ages, and its walls have witnessed battles, palace intrigues, royal weddings and amazing events. In its thousand-year existence, the Alcázar has been a Roman fort, a medieval fortress, a royal palace, a custodian of the royal treasury, a state prison, the Royal Artillery College and the General Military Archive.
The treasure of the Crown of Castile was kept in the old tower, the Keep, from which the funds were taken to finance, among other ventures, the first voyage of Christopher Columbus and, therefore, the discovery of America.
What would a "final tour" through series from the last few months be without a photo of what is probably the coolest sunset of the year for me, the one from the Carloa rocks in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
When you witness a very special moment as a photographer, you want to capture it from as many angles as possible. This has the big disadvantage that in these moments you are pretty busy trying to get the various possible compositions into the camera before the moment is over again. And the one where you actually just want to freeze in awe.
In some cases we're talking about a time window of two or three minutes, sometimes you're lucky and it's 20-30. The only problem is that you don't know that beforehand.
On the other hand, in the end you will have so many impressions in your head, in your heart and of course in your archive that you can return to this special moment again and again.
Nevertheless, when I take photos, I try to find enough time not to take photos and just be there.

I wasn't the only one to decide that the Tundra Trail would be a good place to catch the eclipse. While wandering around looking for rock formations to shoot with, I saw this group perched on a rock and decided to frame with them.

I had a close call today. I witnessed an ENORMOUS preying mantis attacked a stegosaurus! I hid behind a convenient paper wall and watched the awesome battle in awe. 👀

Sunset witnesses gather each night,
To watch the sky in its fading light.
They see the day bow out with grace,
As dusk paints the world in a warm embrace.
Merry Christmas, everyone! May you all have a blessed day with family and friends and keep Christmas in your hearts throughout the new year!

I had positioned my camera on the rocky beach at Wakefield waiting for the night sky. Anticipating the alignment of planets, soon they would reveal themselves and I could say, I had been present to witness the event. However, long before that, the horizon turned yellow. The low clinging clouds became blood red, and the water, was a vibrant blue.
With a puddle of water left from the outgoing tide, a reflection was born. I repositioned my camera so the outline of the puddle matched the distant mountains, but in reverse. The colours of the moment were truly remarkable. And later that night, the clear sky allowed me to witness the alignment.
Anyone who has done a road trip around March or November in South Africa has witnessed the explosion of pink and white flowers on the side of the road! This pink and white countryside landscape drawing is very familiar to many South Africans.
Painting cosmos flowers in watercolour was one of my Grans favorite subjects and has always been a familiar sight in my house. Paintings of the famous pink and white flowers in landscapes or flower arrangements were scattered around the house. So, of course that influenced and inspired me to draw cosmos flowers in my own style.
Along the quiet shores of the Oosterschelde, south of the village of Kats, weathered wooden posts rise from the water like silent witnesses to a bygone era. These remnants are believed to be part of a modest agricultural jetty or loading site, once used for transporting goods such as grain, turf, and fertilizer by boat—long before roads and trucks took over. Likely dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century, the structure has since surrendered to time and tide.
Went out with Ray today to show him around the Lowlands and we both witnessed this beautiful sunrise. Olga
