Rainbow lorikeets are true parrots, within the Psittacoidea superfamily in the order Psittaciformes. The rainbow lorikeet or lorikeet (common name) is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. They are true parrots of medium-size, with the length ranging from 25 to 30 cm, including the tail. The weight varies from 75 to 157 g. The plumage of the nominate race, as with all subspecies, is very bright. The head is deep blue with a greenish-yellow nuchal collar, and the rest of the upper parts (wings, back and tail) are green. The chest is orange/yellow. The belly is deep blue, and the thighs and rump are green. In flight a yellow wing-bar contrasts clearly with the red underwing coverts.
Gordonia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Theaceae, related to Franklinia, Camellia and Stewartia. Of the roughly 40 species, all but two are native to southeast Asia in southern China, Taiwan and Indochina. They are evergreen trees, growing to 10–20 m tall. The bark is thick and deeply fissured. The leaves are alternately arranged, simple, serrated, thick, leathery, glossy, and 6–18 cm long. The flowers are large and conspicuous, 4–15 cm diameter, with 5 (occasionally 6-8) white petals; flowering is in late winter or early spring. The species are adapted to acidic soils, and do not grow well on chalk or other calcium-rich soils. They also have a high rainfall requirement and will not tolerate drought. S20N_838
Within us all rages a battle no one else sees...a battle between our demons and our better angels. Our destiny is, at all times, guided by victory of one over the other.
How you turned my world, you precious thing
You starve and near exhaust me
Everything I've done, I've done for you
I move the stars for no one else
You've run so long
You've run so far
Your eyes can be so cruel
Just as I can be so cruel
Though I do believe in you
Yes I do
Live without the sunlight
Love without your heartbeat
I, I can't live within you
(lyrics - Mr David Bowie )

Common within its range, the Mourning Warbler is a small songbird of second-growth forests of eastern and central North America. It typically reveals its presence by its distinctive song of rolling phrases, usually remaining hidden in the low, thick vegetation.

the spring within has come to shower me
with the peace I craved for long.
I'm currently on vacation in the south of my country, but this photo was taken when I was still in Porto. I'm a little bit in love with it, and I might work on a couple of companion pieces. I hope you have a wonderful rest of week! Also, Darling Heart is coming to stay with me for a little while (YAY!) so I'll be a little bit absent. But we'll do our best to shower you with photos.
I hide myself within my flower,
That wearing on your breast,
You, unsuspecting, wear me too --
And angels know the rest.
I hide myself within my flower,
That, fading from your vase,
You, unsuspecting, feel for me
Almost a loneliness.
Emily Dickinson
I think... I hope... I'm back. Life has certainly been covid-bound for me. All supports that were put in to assist with the care of my husband were removed as soon as the country had to go into quarantine. So the housework and care have caused much extra stress to my heart. But I've figured out new ways and methods. And I miss the caretaking for me of the "art" of photography. I'll be gradually catching up... and I hope I see that you've all retained your health.
Situated within the Berchtesgaden Alps in the municipality of Schönau am Königsee, just south of Berchtesgaden and the Austrian city of Salzburg, the Königssee is Germany's third deepest lake. Located at a Jurassic rift, it was formed by glaciers during the last ice age. It stretches about 4.8 miles in a north-south direction and is about 1 mile across at its widest point. Except at its outlet, the Königsseer Ache at the village of Königssee, the lake is similar to a fjord, being surrounded by the steeply-rising flanks of mountains up to 8,900 feet, including the Watzmann massif in the west.

Portrait of a girl approaching womanhood and carefully balancing outside experiences with her inner life. What I am doing here is searching for a person's 'essence' and combing this with a particular shooting technique (wide-open, contre-jour, reflector, through a perforated sheet of lead). Processed in Fujifilm's raw converter and macOS High Sierra photo editor.

Within the Great Temple of Abydos, Egypt.
Construction was started in the 13th century BC by Pharaoh Seti I, it was completed by his son Ramesses II.
The temple was built to commemorate and worship the earlier pharaohs of Egypt, as well as the major gods of the Egyptian pantheon, such as Amun (or Amen-Rem).

Nothing was done to this photo. The reflection captured my imagination...as if it were caught within.

Camera, sunrise, a flask of coffee, a still loch, the birds singing and nobody else within a mile or so. Doesn't get any better... well, the image could be better but you know what I mean!

Each of us has an inner dream that we can unfold if we will just have the courage to admit what it is. And the faith to trust our own admission. The admitting is often very difficult. Julia Cameron

Dappled around the hills, Northern California has some of the most beautiful oak trees sporting gnarly branches seemingly full of character. With all the rainfall this past winter and spring, the green grass in the hills came alive again. Attempting to capture the essence of both the hills and oaks I scouted around several times looking for oak trees worthy of photographing. This particular tree caught my eye for a sunrise scene. While perched under the tree I liked how an arm of the tree appeared to reach out and grab another oak tree in the distance. I ended up returning the morning of a great sunrise that provided some great contrasting colors in the sky as well as giving that glow on the branches and trunk of the oak.

Light Within by Ben Dearnley at Beaulieu Estate Sculpture Exhibition.
From Ben's page:
This large scale garden piece is the first of its kind for Ben and brings together his love of light, colour and poetry in one form. The sculpture invites the viewer to get up close and personal, and look through the open pupil at the landscape which surrounds it. Then to see the many colours which make up the iris where they will see lines of poetry and details, hand painted in the traditional methods of the many cathedral stained glass windows. The viewer is taken on a journey of their own discovery for the more they look, the more they will see.
"Often times, it is only when we stand silent and still that we hear and see what is just beneath the surface of our world." Ben Dearnley, Sculptor.
The sculpture is mad from steel and stained glass. Weight 25kg.
