Catharina Paltauf was burnt as a witch in 1675 at Riegersburg, Austria. In the medieval castle you'll find an excellent exhibition on witchhunts in this region.
[Look to Your Soul]
I know if I'd been wiser this would never have occurred
but I wallowed in my blindness so it's plain that I deserve
for the sin of self-indulgence when the truth was writ quite clear
I must spend my life amongst the dead who spend their lives in fear
of a death that they're not sure of, of a life they can't control
It's all so simple really if you just look to your soul
Some say that I'm a wise man, some think that I'm a fool
It doesn't matter either way: I'll be a wise man's fool
For the lesson lies in learning and by teaching I'll be taught
for there's nothing hidden anywhere, it's all there to be sought
And so if you know anything look closely at the time
at others who remain untrue and don't commit that crime

This work describes the current situation on social media where Western countries impose cultural ànd political censorship by proxy on their citizens.
It must be compared with the witch hunt of the Nazi regime
It is based on personal experience (my tweets are hidden under the message "offensive tweet", Flickr removed my painting "Dein Kampf" as a group photo (I replaced it with "Das radikal Böse"), on Facebook I regularly cannot request personal profiles, the operation of my PC is sabotaged, etc.
The censorship against the silenced majority is supposed to make you believe that you have lost.(Naomi Seibt, Jan 12, 2021)

A rather small statue of Friedrich Spee von Langenfeld, a 17th century Jesuit who spoke out against the witchhunts of the time in his book "cautio criminalis".
The statue is positioned opposite one of Paderborn's grammar schools which housed the first university of Paderborn where Spee was a Professor of Theology from 1629 to 1631.

Kistan means The Chest. or maybe The Coffin. Doesn't look very special in the picture but sources say that this is where the first people were burnt for witchcraft back in the 1600s in Iceland.
Burn Witch! Burrrn!!!
Haha
Yes I do crazy things with dolls but this time I played it safe and this photo is just a magic trick ;-)
With my sister we prepared a small bonfire, tied Casta to the stake, took the photo of her, then we put her away (far!), we lit our bonfire and I took some photos of the flames.
Finally all that's left to do is to combine the photos together and Abracadabra it's done!

This small hill in Westerwolde was a place where terrible things happen during the witch hunt.
Below is a part from Wikipedia in Dutch.
Well this little witch turned down the Monster Mash party for her own Witch’s Mash!
Pull up a seat, open those ears and listen to the eeries and howls crawl out of that piano and hit the keys for a good ‘ol Halloween brew of a party!
Lots of goodies at lots of great events!

The memorial to Sarah Good is one of 20 benches that have been placed next to the old graveyard in Salem.
Salem village was where Danvers is today, and is where most of the trials were held. There is a separate memorial across the road from where the old meeting house was where many of the examinations took place.
Salem was the port
I finally finished this little dio today, after working on it for about a month.
It's about the dark age of witchhunting.
Also a big thanks to Jacob, who helped me out with the name :)
And here you can find some more pictures: www.imperiumdersteine.de/album.php?albumid=8351
On this place happened terrible things where innocent people are tortured and after that burned to dead during the witch hunt.
Saw this and straight away thought of a track by Rush with the lines as follow -------
" Features distorted in the flickering light
Faces are twisted and grotesque " .
This was just one of number of tableaux themed around fairy tales - in would you believe a garden centre , Garsons Farm .
So here is Rush with "Witchhunt !
I saw a poster online, of one of the many #womensmarches around the world, that said something along the lines of "We are the granddaughters of the witches you were unable to burn.” Damn yeah.
(I wish I had gone to one of the marches. The closest to me was in Porto, but my weekend was set to be in Viana and I managed to spend most of the day moping about not going. My heart was there, though, and with all my friends around the world who marched for equal rights, for respect and for the right to our own bodies, amongst so many, many other issues. My heart and my pride go out to those who went, and those women and men who, much braver than I’ll ever be, fight every day to make equality come to fruition).
No need to worry, this scene looks intense and dramatic but it's just part of Casta's Halloween Show, Heath is playing the role of a witch-hunter ;-)
Oudewater is famous for the Heksenwaag (Witches' scales). This Weighing house, an official town building, became famous during the 16th century because people accused of witchcraft were offered an honest chance of proving their innocence. In many cities and countries such trials were usually rigged, resulting in the burning or drowning of hundreds of innocent people.
Many people accused of witchcraft from all over Europe (or at least, those who could afford the trip) made a head-over-heels trip to Oudewater to avoid being burned at a stake. After the weighing, they received an official certificate proclaiming them not a witch. Although nobody was ever found to be an actual witch in Oudewater, the weighings were still a public spectacle. Even today you can get a certificate that "your body weight is in proportion to your build." The reasoning behind this is the old belief that a witch has no soul and therefore weighs significantly less than an ordinary person; this distinction allows the witch to fly on a broomstick.
So in early modern times when accusations of witchcraft (and resultant burnings) were prevalent, the town of Oudewater offered the accused a chance of proving his or her innocence. This was more special than it sounds. It is a sign of the growing power of a third force next to church and nobility, i.e. citizens. In a bid for total domination, the witchhunts were sanctioned by the church to break the power of the local herb doctors (especially the women). The citizens of Oudewater therefore were, simply by being honest, defying the church.
Today we took the kids into the woods on a witch hunt followed by a campfire and marshmallows, sadly we didnt see any witches but we ate lots of smores!

Yes, he has passed away at the age of 103. Cleft-chinned and steely-eyed American superstar Kirk Douglas (1916) died on 5 February 2020. The legendary actor, producer and director made his film debut in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946) with Barbara Stanwyck. Douglas soon developed into a leading box-office star throughout the 1950s, known for serious dramas, Westerns and war films. Our favourites are the two classics he made with Stanley Kubrick, Paths of Glory (1957) and Spartacus (1960). During his long career, he appeared in more than 90 films. Mr. Douglas, we salute you. Rest in peace.
Kirk Douglas was born as 'the ragman's son' (the name of his 1988 autobiography) known as Issur Danielovitch Demsky, in Amsterdam, New York, in 1916. His parents, Bryna (Sanglel) and Herschel Danielovitch, were Jewish immigrants from Chavusy, Mahilyow Voblast (now in Belarus). Although growing up in a poor ghetto, Douglas was a fine student and wrestled competitively during his time at St. Lawrence University. He gained entry into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, but only appeared in a handful of minor Broadway productions before joining the US Navy in 1941. In 1945, he returned to the theatre and some radio work. On the insistence of ex-classmate Lauren Bacall producer Hal B. Wallis screen-tested Douglas and cast him opposite Barbara Stanwyck in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (Lewis Milestone, 1946) . His performance received rave reviews and further work quickly followed, including an appearance in the Film-Noir I walk alone(Byron Haskin, 1948). It was the first time he worked alongside Burt Lancaster. They appeared in seven films together, including the dynamic western Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (John Sturges, 1957), the John Frankenheimer political thriller Seven Days in May (1964) and their final pairing in the gangster comedy Tough Guys (Jeff Kanew, 1986).
Douglas scored his first Oscar nomination playing the untrustworthy and opportunistic boxer Midge Kelly in the gripping The Champion (Mark Robson, 1949). The quality of his work continued to garner the attention of critics and he was again nominated for Oscars for his role as a film producer in The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) and as tortured painter Vincent van Gogh in Lust for Life (1956), both directed by Vincente Minnelli. In 1955 Douglas launched his own production company, Bryna Productions, the company behind two pivotal film roles in his career. The first was as French army officer Col. Dax in director Stanley Kubrick's brilliant anti-war epic Paths of Glory (1957). Douglas reunited with Kubrick for yet another epic, the magnificent Spartacus (1960). The film also marked a key turning point in the life of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who had been blacklisted during the McCarthy communist witchhunt in the 1950s. At Douglas' insistence Trumbo was given on-screen credit for his contributions, which began the dissolution of the infamous blacklisting policies begun almost a decade previously that had destroyed so many careers and lives.
Douglas remained busy throughout the 1960s, starring in many films. He played a rebellious modern-day cowboy in Lonely Are the Brave (David Miller, 1962), acted alongside John Wayne in the World War II story In Harm's Way (Otto Preminger, 1965), and in the tongue-in-cheek Western The War Wagon (Burt Kennedy, 1967). On stage, he starred in 1963 in Ken Kesey's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, but no Hollywood studio could be convinced to bring the story to the screen. Kirk's son Michael Douglas finally filmed the tale in 1975, starring Jack Nicholson. Into the 1970s, Douglas wasn't as busy as previous years. His films included the Western comedy The Villain (Hal Needham, 1979) with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the sci-fi thriller Saturn 3 (Stanley Donen, 1980) and the Australian Western The Man from Snowy River (George Miller, 1982). Douglas has long been involved in humanitarian causes and has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the US State Department since 1963. France honoured him with the Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. After barely surviving a helicopter crash in 1991 and then suffering a stroke in 1996, he focused on renewing his spiritual and religious life. He lived with his second wife (of 65 years), Anne Buydens, a producer, until his death in 2020 at age 103. A centenarian, he was one of the last surviving stars of the film industry's Golden Age.

Lindau, located near the borders to Austria and Switzerland, was mentioned first time in 882 when a nunnery was founded here. The old town is on an island, which meanwhile is connected with the mainland by a road bridge and a railway dam.
The church of St. Stephan was built around 1180, Franciscans founded a monastery here in 1224. In 1274/75 Lindau became an Imperial Free City under King Rudolf I.
Lindau became Protestant in 1528. The nunnery remained Catholic while the Franciscan monastery, from which the first Reformation preachers came, was closed. During the Thirty Years' War, Lindau was unsuccessfully besieged by Swedish troops in 1646/47. Between 1445 and 1761, 18 people were indicted in witch trials in Lindau. The last victim of the witch hunt was Maria Madlener, who was executed on August 4, 1730.
St. Stephan, founded 1180, is the largest church on the island, located next to the Catholic Münster Unserer Lieben Frau right on the marketplace. After several expansions, the church lost its Romanesque facade in 1506, but inside the building the Romanesque basilica can still be seen in the otherwise Rococo church.

The construction of the church started around 1000 in the centre of an early fishing settlement hence the Petrus patronage, the saint is the patron saint of fishermen.
St. Peter lost its importance after the completion of St. Stephan, the new parish church on the island in 1180. The building was used by a Beguine-like convent, dedicated to the care of the sick. Already within the 16th century the church got profaned and was used as a storage.
In the beginning of the 20th century wood and coal was stored here. Since 1928 the former church is a war memorial.
The murals were rediscovered in 1849. A first restoraten was undertaken in 1921, when all post-Reformation fixtures and extensions got removed.
Seen on the left wall is the "Lindau Passion". The passion of Christ and the story of Peter are artistically processed on an area four meters high and seven meters wide. It is dated to the 15th century.

Witchcraft Museum of Zugarramurdi, Navarra, Spain.
This museum focuses on the historical memory arising from events that happened 400 years ago, between 1609 and 1614, in the area of Xareta. During these years, women, men and children, many from Zugarramurdi, were accused and condemned in the largest witch hunt in history. The museum is a tribute to them all and describes what was said, what was recorded, rumour and fact, in short; a memory.

After several expansions, the church lost its Romanesque facade in 1506, but inside the building the Romanesque basilica can still be seen in the otherwise Rococo church.Since 2000 this wonderful gothic crucifix is displayed in the side aisle.
