Hung Throttle Podcast - show #10
I was looking for something to work on during an art class. A volunteer at the gardens told me to hop on her golf cart, and we toodled on over to the rose garden. She showed me this.
I was excited at the opportunity to be able to sketch a view in the state capitol. Unfortunately after walking the entire capitol that was open for public access, the snack room in the basement was THE only place I could find a chair. I learned the basement of the WI state capitol is a popular place for the homeless on a rainy day.

These tidal pools (the Great Lakes do not have true tides; large freshwater bodies experience small tides from 1 to 4 cm), contain interesting life: lift up a crusty rock and watch a crayfish scuttle away, firing it's tail to shoot backwards. You also might be lucky enough to see a water snake slithering to hide amongst the larger boulders. June 29, 2007; Toft Point, Liberty Grove, Door County, Wisconsin; Nikon Coolpix L5.
The first Catholic church in Gratiot was erected in 1869, and replaced by a brick structure in 1911. It was destroyed by fire in 1923 and the present church building was completed the following year.
The church is easy to find - just look for where every power line in town converges :)

We visited Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and stayed at a resort on the bay, which opens into Green Bay.Had fun with the granddaughters visiting local attractions and was able to shoot from the resort property and nearby Sunset Park. The weather was cool but clear with light winds. Glare and back-lighting from the strong sun presented a challenge. Visit rosy-finch.blogspot.com

A central post in my wife's family's barn in northern Wisconsin. You can see the tool marks where the log was squared with hand tools, most likely a broad axe.
These images were made during a journey down Rustic Road 32 in Marinette County on June 24, 2017.
R-32, Wisconsin’s longest rustic road, offers a 37-mile journey through several county parks and the Peshtigo River State Forest. The route features multiple species of hardwoods and conifers, along with numerous granite boulders and outcroppings. R-32 also offers vistas of the Thunder and Peshtigo rivers.
Wisconsin's Rustic Roads system was created to preserve many of the state's scenic, lightly traveled country roads. Features of Rustic Roads include rugged terrain, native vegetation and wildlife, or open areas with agricultural vistas.
