i've never seen such a fuss for telling the truth as when the crazies went nuts over gore's "bush broke the law when he illegally wiretapped americans."

The front page of the Washington Post March 2, 1971 reports on a bomb placed in a U.S. Capitol restroom on the Senate side by the Weather Underground protesting the continued war in Indochina.
Two grand jury probes were launched that targeted activists that organized the Mayday protests in May 1971 that attempted to shut down the U.S. government through non-violent civil disobedience.
The investigation and pending charges were later dropped against Weather Underground members due to the U.S. refusal to disclose wiretapping sources.

Investigators stand in a corridor in the Pentagon near a restroom where a bomb exploded May 19, 1972 in a fourth floor women’s restroom.
Shortly before the blast, the Washington Post and New York Times received a call from a man identifying himself as a “Weatherman” and warning of the bomb at the Pentagon.
A later communiqué from the group noted the date was the birthday of the Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh and declared resistance to the war in Vietnam.
The investigation and pending charges were later dropped against Weather Underground members due to the U.S. refusal to disclose wiretapping sources. Bill Ayers, a fugitive at the time of the bombing, later claimed he was a participant in the Pentagon bombing.
The blast destroyed the women’s restroom and caused water damage to computers and property in the rooms below.

Macedonians protest against police brutality and government murder cover-up of a young boy in 2011 after Zoran Zaev, leader of opposition, released the phone calls between government officials that are part of the huge wiretapping scandal.
This is where the NSA's illegal domestic wiretapping program was discovered inside a secret room in 2006. Kind of crazy, I walk past this otherwise featureless building every day and don't think twice about it. Is there a more perfectly ominous looking building to represent this sort of thing?

Quote by Lester Freamon.
Episode 6, Season 1 of HBO's „The Wire“.
„Freamon uses this phrase to describe the importance of the individual calls recorded by their wiretap device to Prez. Simon has also described it as referring to the need for the viewer to concentrate on all aspects of the show to follow the plot.“ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wire_(episode)
Dear Huffington Post,
As registered "Citizen Reporters," we attempted to attend the Tea Party in Boston Common this evening. It was supposed to be happening from 5-7, but by the time we got there, around 5:20, there were no protesters. However, the trash cans of the Common provided evidence they had been there:
#01:
“Your Choice/1776 or 1984” and “A GOVERNMENT BIG ENOUGH TO GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS BIG ENOUGH TO TAKE IT ALL AWAY by Thomas Jefferson”
#02
“Close D.C. SAVE A COUNTRY!”
#03
“RON PAUL/HOPE FOR AMERICA/Be a part of it”
#04
Abandoned signs on the walking path through the Common.
We talked to a woman canvassing for a group that works with foster kids, who told us that she had seen the tax people boarding busses and had heard that they were headed to the harbor. We figured that since we didn’t know where along the harbor they would be, we would just call it a night and head down to our apartment in the North End. On the way home, though, we stumbled into the wrap up of what must have been the formal dumping-of-the-tea-into-the-harbor at Christopher Columbus Park on the Waterfront. While the action was clearly over, there were a few memorable images of the denouement:
#05
The protesters, socializing. Most appeared to be energized by the event.

When I took his picture, this man seemed happy and said, “Finally, somebody likes me.” He was concerned that the mainstream media outlets present at the protest had not been eager to hear his message, which was “Down with both Parties.” His sign juxtaposes “Bush/ ‘Compassionate’ Conservative/War/Torture/Wiretaps/Bailouts/Trillion $ Deficits” with “Obama/ ‘Change’ we can believe in/War/Torture/Wiretaps/Bailouts/Trillion $ Deficits.”

Swedish parliament was about to pass a bill that allowed for FRA, the National Defence Radio Agency, to wiretapp all e-mail and phone traffic. And following an initiative from The Pirate Party, a crowd of hundreds was gathered in front of parliament to protest the bill and try to convince representatives to vote against it. The crowd was a mixture of pirates, the journalists’ union, the political parties’ youth organizations and worried citizens.
Collected conversations. Recorded voices. Sound bytes. Transcribed, compartmentalized and given meaning without context.

"Honk to impeach"
Honk! Honk!
SJM 8016 is a bill that has been introduced by Senator Eric Oemig into the Senate Committee on Government Operations and Elections. If passed, the bill will call on the US Congress to investigate certain members of the Bush Administration for impeachable offenses.

This is my submission for the npr.org ornament contest. One of the most talked about events of last year. The White House and wiretapping.
Little ears on the White House and the holiday song "Do you hear what I hear?".

This got a wry smile from me - it's under a poster in the Communist Museum in Prague, where they detail the many terrible things that took place under the Communists. This one tells of how, in a civilised democratic society, wiretapping is strictly under the control of the courts, whereas in Communist Czechoslovakia, the Secret Police used it to opress the people. It sounds strangely similar to the wonderfully "free" and "democratic" US of A.
Aplogies for the quality of the picture, I had to piece it together from multiple images

The wind was roaring through the domes and a few people were screaming in the upper dome to create incomparable echoes.

This is an important moment. The Bush White House has been endangering the country by doing everything but fighting terrorism, and they have endangered the nation by disavowing the Constitution as a uniting document.
The fight is on. Today, a group of attendees at an Albert Gonzales speech (photo op) turned their backs on him and reminded us what the Founding Fathers thought of the kind of tyranny Bush is trying to establish. Of course, Gonzales is a Bush crony who cares nothing about America or its Constituion, only furthering political goals - a traitorous violation of his oath of office.
More about the protest here.
Not my photo.
Black Panther Huey Newton once lived in the tall apartment house: "1200 Lakeshore, site of Newton’s infamous penthouse apartment, from where he regularly observed Panther-involved demonstrations on the courthouse’s front steps via telescope, while FBI agents occupied an apartment across the hall and wiretapped his phone."

LAWYERS, GUNS, AND MONEY: Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley briefs the media on a wiretap investigation that yielded 10 illegal handguns, more than 5 kilos of heroin, and upwards of $80,000 in cash. "One would have to go back to the days of the Mafia, when the wiretap statute was last updated, to find a more effective use of telephone intercepts to climb the rungs of a criminal ladder," Conley said.
According to researchers from the New England Historic Genealogical Society, George Dubya Bush and Barack Hussein Obama are 10th cousins, once removed, and linked together by Samuel Hinkley of Cape Cod, who died in 1662.
Birds of of the same feather,
Always flock together as...
Both Bush and Obama support the TARP Bankers Bailout,
Both Bush and Obama support the Patriot Act,
Both Bush and Obama support FISA even though Senator Obama was against Illegal Wiretaps, Barack voted for H.R. 6304.
