The ION-U distributed antenna system is designed to meet the challenges of large venues like stadiums, airports and university campuses. It supports multiple operators, frequency bands and technologies via one unified, low-power and high-power system.
ION-U comes with the integrated guidance and intelligence that makes it possible to get your wireless DAS up and running more quickly, more efficiently and at a lower total cost of ownership.
An in-building wireless solution like a distributed antenna system (DAS) helps, but in a sprawling campus or office park, the high cost and large footprint of dedicated operator base stations and DAS head-end equipment can make the economics of the solution challenging.
This is precisely why we created the Era C-RAN antenna system. Era coordinates wireless capacity throughout the entire coverage area via a single centralized head-end location or from an operator’s existing C-RAN hub.
Designed from the proven success of ION-E®, the Era operates on the same cost-efficient standard IT cabling and is compatible with ION-E deployments. Sharing the same infrastructure as other IP-connected devices is a big bonus for smart buildings because it simplifies installation and maintenance, reducing total cost of ownership
Using a Cloud RAN (C-RAN) architecture, OneCell consists of a baseband controller and multiple radio points that form a single “super cell”—eliminating handovers and interference across large areas. This solution delivers superior LTE performance for enterprises and public venues at dramatically lower deployment costs.
VicFreeWiFi covers the Melbourne CBD and is the largest outdoor free public Wi-Fi network of its kind in Australia. The system is managed and maintained by telecommunications company TPG and was launched in 2016.

This bad-boy is awesome! I just bought my first iMac 20", but the new AirPort Extreme Base Station doubled my range and my connection never drops. I can also connect a printer or USB drive to it. It works so well with my VPN and I can connect to it and manage it from anywhere in the world. It cost about $50 more than average pedestrian brand, but the Apple Airport Extreme is a very solid dependable wireless router - and she looks great too!
I don't do this often, but I seriously recommend this product for PC or Macintosh (or both) home networks! www.apple.com/airportextreme/

Wireless operators worldwide are upgrading their networks to LTE in order to reach higher data speeds and network capacity. But what’s involved in an LTE network upgrade? This infographic highlights the challenges that wireless operators face when making the transition to LTE—from additional frequency bands to new cell site equipment and design.

Microchip Technology's enhanced mTouch™ Cap Touch Evaluation Kit includes a new board for development with the 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller family. It comes equipped with capacitive touch-sensing keys and sliders, which allows designers to evaluate this interface in their applications using the Windows® OS-based mTouch Diagnostic Tool. This software tool provides an easy-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI) for developing cap-touch buttons and sliders, and is included in the free MPLAB® Integrated Development Environment. The additional software libraries, source code and other support materials that come with the board further shorten development cycles and reduce design costs.
When combined with its other included boards, the enhanced mTouch Cap Touch Evaluation Kit allows designers to evaluate all of Microchip’s 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers, providing a scalable capacitive touch sensing development platform for a wide range of design needs.
The enhanced mTouch Cap Touch Evaluation Kit (part # DM183026-2, $99.95) is available today at www.microchip.com/get/F3RD.
Microchip created the MRF24WB0MA PICtail™/PICtail Plus Daughter Board (part # AC164136-4, $59.99) to enable development with the new Wi-Fi module. This daughter board plugs into the Explorer 16 and PICDEM.net™ 2 boards to allow easy, modular development with hundreds of 8-bit PIC18, 16-bit PIC24 and 32-bit PIC32 MCUs, as well as the dsPIC® DSCs. All of these tools are available today at www.microchip.com/get/NNET.

The Multimedia Expansion Board is a modular add-on to any of Microchip Technology's Starter Kits for the 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller family, which have been purchased by thousands of embedded designers. The board demonstrates how to implement a flexible graphics display strategy that is not dependent on controller-based QVGA Display Modules, which are frequently obsoleted. It also includes a high-quality 24-bit stereo audio codec line out, headphone and microphone jacks, integrated FCC-certified Wi-Fi®, an on-board 3-axis accelerometer and a 5-position joystick. No other manufacturer offers such a complete multimedia development system for this class of 32-bit microcontroller.
