I started off making a coiled spiral link for an item I was re-making of an old design for a customer and got totally into the rhythm of the coiling, so it all went a bit coil-tastic this week. Faceted amethyst and antiqued copper necklace (matching earrings in the adjacent frame). Everything is totally hand crafted by me (from raw copper wire) except the chain and beads.
Briolette Bug - 4-5 November, 2009
I was looking at this orange tourmaline briolette in my collection, trying to think of what to make with it, and decided on a bug. I thought it would look perfect as the abdomen peeking through lacy wire wings. Here's the result. :D

The heart is handcrafted in sterling silver wire that I first gently hammered and then wrapped in thinnest silver wire. I coiled up the two ends and between them I strung one gorgeous little garnet faceted briolette (6x6mm). The chain consists of 3mm garnet rounds that I strung together with fine silver wire and of a very fine and almost sparkly silver chain. Lobster clasp at end
