Another thing you can't simply find nowadays - old-style separate wiring.
This line still used on the tramway stop for lighting. Each wire has its own rubber insulation and fixed on the steel cable with an own ceramic insulator. Coiled parts should help to avoid cracking the rubber insulation with a strong wind during the cold winter. I think this wiring could be more than fifty years old.
I met up with a local lad tonight(BaseDV8) for a bit of wirewool spinning.

i've not done this for ages and managed to burn some skin off my finger...... not because of the hot sparks, but because friction off the cable going past my finger tore a few layers off and gave me a nice blister
The underside of a prototyping board fitted with DIL wire-wrap sockets. The square wire-wrap spills have sharp corners and form a gas-tight connection with the wire-wrap wire.
The local power company is replacing old utility poles. While many communities tend to go underground with the lines, here they've elevated them.
