Winter-session course: Museum, Gallery, & Studio Field Study

Run by Jodie Cavalier.

This wintersession course bridges the gap between students’ lives as art students into lives as artists in the world by giving them the opportunity to present work for feedback from peers and guest artists. Students are also challenged to produce work without access to the institution's facilities in preparation for life after graduation. Through site visits to museums, galleries, and artist workspaces, students are able to demystify the many ways one can be an artist today.

In these photographs, students talk with Theo Downs-LeGuin, owner of Upfor Gallery in the Pearl District. They also engage with the installation in the gallery by Portland-based duo MSHR (Brenna Murphy and Birch Cooper).
