This beaver picked a prime piece of land for the view alone. It was quite active even with my intrusion, as was building winter food supply behind the lodge. This is now totally ice, a week later. Thanks for looking and may your weekend be bright!

went out for an hour yesterday as it was a 'barmy' 6deg, still plenty of snow about & big drifts at the roadsides but last night we had rain & today it's almost gone...
There was a group of Redpolls scouring the fields in search of food during the deep of winter at minus 20C temperatures.
They found a few left over wild plants which obviously offered some seeds.
The birds will be happy this winter

The picture was taken in November, and we can see the squirrel already has put on the thick gray winter coat!
Pfeffernuesse are very typical German christmas cookies (Peppery Gingerbread Cookies). They are made with black pepper and ginger. After baking you have to store them for a few days before they get the typical flavor.

Since I returned from Copenhagen that I have ben thinking about making this soup - Cauliflower. I was never that fond of cauliflower, so I was quite surprised when I ate a soup made of it and was delicious. Mine was as well, specially with the roasted prosciutto on the side!

These are tradtional German Christmas cookies called "Spitzbuben" (jam filled cookies) with a little secret: the jam is passion fruit and orange jam. And the dought is base on coconut. Added some Rum for a tropic touch of these.
