Ende Oktober hatte man die Boote am Phoenixsee in Dortmund Hörde schon winterfest gemacht.

Helleborus ist eine homöopathische Arznei, die aus der Christrose (Helleborus niger) hergestellt wird und es ist ein wichtiges Mittel bei Erkrankungen des Gehirns und der Nerven. „Schwarze Nieswurz, Weiße Nieswurz“
ist auf den Umstand zurückzuführen, dass das geriebene Pulver der unterirdischen Pflanzenteile – wie auch manch anderer Pflanzenarten,
z. B. aus der Gattung Veratrum (ebenfalls mit dem Pflanzennamen „Nieswurz“ benannt) – Niesreiz auslöst (s. Niesen).

Auch die Einnahme selbst erfordert besondere Aufmerksamkeit. Unabhängig von der Art der Darreichungsform (Globuli, Tablette oder Tropfen) sind Homöopathika empfindliche Stoffe, deren Wirksamkeit durch äußere Reize möglicherweise beeinflusst werden können.
Um eine Heilwirkung nicht zu gefährden, sollten zur Sicherheit folgende Regeln beachtet werden:
Vor der Einnahme des Mittels sollten die Mundschleimhäute 15 Minuten frei sein von Speisen und Getränken, Nikotin oder Alkohol.
Globuli, aufgelöste Tabletten oder Tropfen zur Vorsicht mit Plastiklöffeln einnehmen.
Stark riechende ätherische Öle
(Latschenkiefer, Menthol, Kampfer, Teebaumöl, ... ) und Lösungsstoffe (Lacke, Farben, Benzin) sind während der Anwendung zu vermeiden.
Minze, Zahnpasta, Kaugummi, Kaffee und Alkohol zur Sicherheit der Wirkung möglichst vermeiden oder den Gebrauch stark einschränken

Die Pflanzengattung Nieswurz (Helleborus), auch Christrosen, Schneerosen oder Lenzrosen genannt, gehört zur Familie der Hahnenfußgewächse (Ranunculaceae). Die 15 bis 25 Arten sind von Europa über Kleinasien bis Zentralasien und eine einzelne Art in China verbreitet.

Friday night dinner at Brewsters in Edmonton to kick off the Winterfest weekend! I was enjoying a delicious coffee-infused stout :-)
Psyclone is a 23 metres (75 ft) ride at Canada's Wonderland. On May 5, 2002, this Mondial ride was opened to the public at the park. The 1 minute and 54 second ride features 40 seats facing outwards which rotate from a central pendulum as the ride reaches its maximum arc angle of 120 degrees. Even though the ride height is 23 metres (75 ft), when the ride reaches the top of its swing, the height becomes 37 metres (121 ft) high.
The rider's experience depends on where they are seated on the ride. Before the ride begins, the floor under the riders' feet descends lower (almost like going deeper in the ground) due to how the pendulum swings. If the floor did not move, serious injury to riders' legs and bodies would occur. Due to the way in which the seats rotate, all riders face different angles of the ride. Depending on where the rider is seated, they may experience some air-time as the swing reaches its maximum angle. When the ride cycle ends, the pendulum returns to the 'loading position' and the floor rises to the riders' feet, allowing riders to exit and enter the ride.
Psyclone is made primarily out of 7 major parts: the 4 supports around the ride which support the motor that allows the pendulum to swing, the motor itself (the blue part on top of the ride) which supports the pendulum, the pendulum itself which supports the seats for the ride, and the seats themselves.
On Saturday, January 21, 2023, the Connecticut Trolley Museum hosted a night photo shoot featuring their collection of equipment. The museum and some of the equipment was still somewhat decorated from their "Winterfest" events, which added a nice touch to the scenes. In an impromptu shot while the event was getting underway, we see three streetcars in the museum's Kelly Barn, the warm glow of lights seeming very inviting on the rather cold night!

In our little town (Grand Haven MI) we have an annual "winterfest" that includes several activities. Tonight was the ice carving display. These guys were really good. This was held at the local holiday inn. Was a cold but productive ... Day 23
I thought about using my remote flashes this evening but with the snow I decided not to dare it... when I got there they had huge worklights (home depot type) setup for working. Made an awesome backlight.
