French athlete Pascal Martinot-Lagarde releases all his emotions at winning the 110 metres hurdles for France during the athletics World Cup at the London stadium. It was the only Gold medal won by France at the two day event. He was pleased to win!

The North Blyth to Lynemouth Alcan train was the last revenue-earning unfitted freight working on BR and on 29 October 1988, we see 56120 approaching Winning Junction on the working from North Blyth. At this time, 56s were not common on this service.

EJ&E SD38-2s 667 and 674 switch at Seneca/Oxbow in Lemont, IL with the L543. It's been more than five years since the CN took over the EJ&E. Finding full EJ&E consists is a very rare occasion these days!

CSX Consist of the year on today's M705. He's banking into the super-elevated curve in the small hamlet of Westville, Florida, on CSX's P&A sub. The all EMD trifecta is a great catch in 2018, and the leader is on home rails. SD40-2 8016 was built for the L&N in 1979. It's served on the successor roads ever since. The old loco was putting on a show with its sisters as it slugged a 10,300 foot long combination intermodal-manifest over a wet P&A today. I wouldn't have believed this could happen on CSX in 2018, but I was proven wrong. Thankfully in my home territory! L&N 8016 clears Westville, Florida. August, 18, 2018.

My husband managed a softball team called the Internationals when we lived in Kenya. Two seasons ran each year. His team won 19 straight seasons and 18 championships of those. Jim was their pitcher, and a darn good one. This is the ball they used most of the time, now on display at home.

The team was all guys, usually, but I played two games one season when they were short. I even scored! Yea!

After winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Peugeot 905 in 1993, Peugeot released limited Le Mans editions for the 106, 306 and 405.

The 405 Le Mans was based on the top of the range model; the Mi16, with its 2 liter 16V DOHC engine producing 155 bhp. Extra options were as standard on the Le Mans: a leather and alcantara interior with heated front seats, 15 inch wheels and one colour (metallic Lucifer Red).

Circa 500 were made, of which 150 were sold in France.

This colourful design capturing the scientific essence of ESA’s upcoming Cheops exoplanet mission – characterising planets as they transit in front of their host star – has been selected as the winning design that will be featured on the rocket that will launch the satellite into space.

The design was one of over 300 submitted to the competition that offered graphic designers and artists the unique opportunity to feature their work on the rocket that will launch Cheops – the CHaracterising ExOplanets Satellite – to Earth orbit.

The design was created by Denis Vrenko of Celje, Slovenia, a 25 year-old graphic designer and final-year architecture student at the University of Ljubljana.

the stunning view from one of many old disused farm buildings in the south of Iceland. It's humbling that this view, while it changes over time (this is Iceland after all) remains wild, beautiful and carries on, while our constructions wither away in time.

I believe this is the oldest neon sign in the Museum of Neon Art's collection. It's a beautiful sign and the animation is wonderful!

What can I say? I was just in a photo combining mood this morning, that's all...😘

I typically do multiple "takes" of photos to make sure I get a good one...but if they all look as good as these, why not just stick 'em together?

Canadian pilot EB Lee flashes a big smile while standing beside his crashed Sopwith Camel C 1576 on March 18, 1918. Lee was engaged in combat with aircraft of Jasta 11 when he was brought down. The credit was given to Vzf. Edgar Scholtz. Lee was a loser in the air but is still alive and happy to be so. His opponent would not be so lucky, Scholtz would crash and be killed near Cappy in May. Previous research by Brett, Tom Wictor and others reflects that the German pilot also in the photo is not Scholtz as he was flying a Fokker DRI and not an Albatros DIII at this time.
