I'm not really sure if you can see what is on my monitor but I had to laugh. The past two days I've played the Wii. This console has always blown me away with the amount of interaction you can actually get, but then again all of the newer systems are pretty amazing. I was talking with the BF tonight about older consoles and I came across a website with a list of games available for download that you might have seen on Windows 95, and even earlier. I was impressed with myself at how many games I actually knew about. My dad has always been into technology so I have him to thank for my geekiness. I stumbled upon the ORIGINAL Sim City and was in awe. I haven't downloaded it yet, but it brought back so many memories. Ah nostalgia.
Hey all,
This was a fun concept I came up with while I was volunteering working at a casino back in April, a couple weeks before I finished school. I was just starting to get really into the vaporwave aesthetic look. I personally don't like the vaporwave music style as I find it to be quite bland and boring in my personal opinon, but I honestly wouln't be able to tell you how many vaporwave animated gifs and animated text gifs I have just taking up space on my phone. This picture didn't really start out as a vaporwave-inspired piece, and I can't really remember when or how it started to go that direction. All I can really say is I was listening to this awesome psytrance mix while working on it. It was pretty slow at the casino and I spent basically the whole eight hours I was there, in a small room waiting for the phone to ring, calling for a chip runner. So needless to say, I had a lot of time on my hands.
Initially, the background was a lot lighter, thus more vaporwave-like. However, as I filled in all the colours I felt like everything was starting to merge together and it just looked kind of awkward, so I took it upon myself to add in a bit of contrast between the background and the foreground. And of course this picture has to star none other than Niue, my little electroslut. I'm really happy with the way the colouring came out on this piece, it has a very sharp feel to it. This is actually the first piece of mine where I've stood back and thought, "Shit, I could totally see this being a comic book cover page." In other words, this is probably the colouring style I'll be going with for when Void 9 actually starts being created visually. And just because it's part of the aesthetic, the Japanese words seen above and below the character translate to "Electrify" and "Error." I wanted to do "Electrify" and "Intensify" but the second word was only one Japanese character and I didn't really like that, so I went with "Error" instead.

Jacob Sarfati, my faithful scanner repairman, after some minor repairs and preventative maintenance on my company's Hell s3900 drum scanner. He's been doing this for 30 years, first with Hell USA and then on his own after Heidelberg discontinued support for all scanners. Now he spends most of his time setting up networks, but he's got a garage full of scanner parts.
The small drum is mounted on the scanner, and on the right you can see the mounting device for the small drum, along with a selection of larger drums, and the various fluid used for cleaning them, cleaning and polishing them, and mounting the film.
I may be wrong, but the graphic on the side of this caterer's van looks as though it came directly from the clip-art that shipped with Windows 95.

My office in 1995! Located in the phosphates engineers offices. This was a Dell, at a guess it was a 386. Network connectivity was the Token Ring network, running Windows95. The PC had both a 3.5" and 5.25" disk drive for legacy reasons. A tape backup to the right under the phone sitting on top of a 19k2 modem.
Telephone numbers were 8258 and 8259.

I made this just for the fun of going down memory lane... I loved this game back in the day!
What better system for a kick ass telescope than Windows 95 ;-) Output from this computer goes to a projector in the next photo.
At work, we have a Windows 95 PC that runs the payroll system. It is now 2008. I'll let that sink in for a bit.
