Always a treat to come across a patch of wild violets on a walk, and this one has a special guest if you zoom in - I didn't see it at all until I got home!

I love the leaves of the wild violet. While I was focusing on the light and composition, this fly entered the frame.

For the past 50 years, Earth Day has been celebrated by billions of people around the globe, annually every April 22, to join together in promoting awareness for the health of our environment.

These Violets grow all over the garden.... beautiful gifts from the Earth!!

For my 100 Flowers Project - 2021

A few years ago a small patch of Wild Violets popped up in our back garden. I must confess to not looking after them at all but they just keep on flowering.

Sometimes one comes across some wild flowers that are tiny and very pretty, as these violets show.

A tiny little wild violet and some brand new baby leaves off of a bush. Entire size is approximately 2" x 2" Reflections are on a smooth piece of tinfoil.

It's been a while since I did a still life that wasn't a flat lay so I pushed myself to set one up with these gorgeous wild violets from my garden. I couldn't be bothered to use the tripod (which would actually have been easier for me to get the shot) so very high ISO. I have done similar to this before with these pigeons egg shells.

Macro Monday - Bottle top

22/30: April 2019: A month in 30 pictures

This is the stopper of a crystal perfume bottle. I found some tiny wild violets growing in my lawn so picked them, put a couple behind the stopper, to introduce a hint of colour, and one beside it for a little added interest. The bokeh background is the perfume bottle. HMM

Taken in a coast path wall.

I'm unsure if it goes by another name, but this was one of many plants we bought without labels.

in my garden and they grow wherever they want...

Wild violets are taking over one of my smaller flower beds, and I'm perfectly OK with that. It's been hard to get any flowers to grow in this particular bed so maybe these little violets will be happier here than in my lawn.

While walking through a sunlit field, I stumbled upon this delicate beauty swaying gently in the breeze. With its soft purple petals and humble presence among the grasses, the wild violet stood out as a quiet reminder of nature’s effortless elegance. Untamed, yet graceful — a small wonder blooming where few would think to look.

One of those little purple / blue flowers that pop on on your lawn. Apparently I'm supposed to hate them and want them gone. Anyhoo...

It's not more than a couple of inches tall. Shot close up with my macro lens.

that grow wherever they want to in the garden...

Beautiful little blue and white wild violets and amongst them one yellow dandelion.

I have an expansive patch of wild strawberries and violets at the bottom of my garden. A narrow trail has formed through the middle of it where rainwater drains and where I walk through. I just got these small concrete star-shaped flowers to mark the trail and to give me small stepping stones to avoid the mud. I’ll need about 20 more stones to complete the trail. It’s too hot to plant right now, so I’m adding little bits of art to my garden.

Loads of them all over the yard. Lots of colors and varieties. Too hard to choose, so I just published the first one I photographed. :-)

Yes, just take a few steps out our back door and you'll find our yard is covered in weeds! The only ones I like and actually don't usually pull are these very pretty Wild Violets, which are all over the place now.

AND, as a bonus, if you look closely, you'll see hints of pollen on those leaves! Can you say achoo?!?

Spring is definitely springing in our neck of the woods. It's meteorological spring but the official start is just two days away!

Violets bloomed profusely in our local community woodland project this spring. It would seem that they promised more than summer has been able to deliver this year, at least so far. I have three large water butts plus an overflow in a plastic dustbin and all are still brim-full. Last year they were the exact opposite by this part of the summer.

Amazing how in a week the flowers along the MKT bike trail have changed, from Dutchman's Breeches and Anemones to Blue Phlox and Missouri Violets. The trees are just starting to leaf out here so not too shady yet along the bike trail. It's been fun to see different flowers (and identifying them) on our bike rides.

These tiny, Wild Violets "grow like weeds" in the middle of our lawn. While they are pretty, they are still weeds.

Last year they "discovered" a small garden area near my patio where I've always had trouble getting things to grow. Decided to let them stay and now they're starting to fill up the area, and looking quite pretty with their little splash of color!

And yes, I'm still pulling up the ones I find in our lawn.
