Over 60 people gathered on The Plaza, Kansas City's famous "upscale" shopping district, with its famous fountain historically known for peaceful public assembly of various social and political issues. The rally program was MC'd by Navy Veteran, Jeff Johnson. Speakers included: Dr. Yolanda Huet-Vaughn, famed conscientious objector court-martialed for refusing to serve in Operation Desert Storm. Also, Tom Klammer, consistent public supporter of WikiLeaks and Bradley Maning, host of "Tell Somebody" on KKFI, Kansas City's community run radio station. Local poets, William Peck, Rachel Asbury, and Ron Faust also spoke. Dozens of supporters stayed through sunset holding signs and banners by the side of the busy shopping district's main intersection.

Julian Assange supports NSA whistleblower Ed Snowden in speech transcript - London 22.06.2013

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange released a transcript of a scheduled speech - cancelled suddenly for security reasons - to members of the press and the crowd of Assange and Bradley (now Chelsea) Manning supporters outside the Ecuadorean embassy, in which Assange called for global support for fugitive ex-NSA whistleblower Ed Snowden whose whistleblowing document leaks have shocked the world as it discovered the unimaginably vast scale of illegal eavesdropping and surveillance carried out on ordinary citizens, politicians and businesses by the National Security Agency in tandem with GCHQ in the UK and national security agencies all over Europe and with Mossad in Israel.

Bradley Manning supporters hold vigil as trial verdict is due - London 27.07.2013

Supporters of US Army whistleblower Bradley Manning held a vigil on the steps of St. Martin's in the Fields church near Trafalgar Square to call for Manning to be released as the world waited to hear the trial judge's verdict. As we now know, the brave soldier who blew the whistle on US Army war crimes when he released thousands of US Army cables to Wikileaks, has been found guilty of espionage, but was found innocent of the absurd charge of 'aiding the enemy'. To date nobody has stood trial for the war crimes.

Fort Meade, Maryland August 21, 2013. This morning at 10AM whistleblower Private Bradley Manning was sentenced by Judge Denise Lind to 35 years in prison for leaking secret government documents to Wikileaks. Manning was also demoted in rank, dishonorably discharged and will be deprived of his military pay and benefits. Flanked by Members of the Bradley Manning Support Network and other supporters, Manning's lawyer David Coombs addressed a packed 1:30PM press conference at the nearby Hotel At Arundel Preserve in Hanover. Coombs answered numerous questions from the press in an animated and illuminating manner and read a moving personal statement from Private Manning.

Protest marks Bradley Manning's 1,000 days in prison - London, 23.02.2013

As part of a global day of action, protesters gathered at the US Embassy in London today to mark US Army Private Bradley Manning's 1,000th day in prison without trial over the leaking of classified US Army documents now known as the "Iraq War Logs" to whistleblowing website Wikileaks which revealed shocking details of war crimes committed by the US Army in Iraq, including the notorious "Collateral Damage" helicopter gunship cockpit video which showed American pilots indiscriminately murdering civilians and journalists.

Denied a speedy trial, and having been subjected to cruel and punitive treatment in military prisons which have been classified as torture by Amnesty International and other Human Rights organisations, Manning's supporters are calling for the US Army's prosecutors to stop hindering Manning's legal team access to important evidence at every turn.

Branded a traitor by many in the USA, and a hero by many others globally for exposing American crimes in Iraq, Manning is being charged under the US Espionage Act and an egregious “aiding the enemy” charge which could see him executed, even though it has been proven that not a single American has been harmed as a result of Manning's exposure of criminal behaviour. A spokesman from BradleyManning.org in the US said in a statement this week "There has never been a more important time to broadcast our message of support for exposing war crimes, international justice, and people's right to know what the government does in our name."

Interestingly, Bradley Manning's purported massive leak of documents - many of which detailed corruption, collusion and ex-judicial murder by various Middle Eastern despots - is said by many to have been the inspiration for the Arab Spring...

Groups supporting Manning at the American Embassy in London (owned by Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company) included 'Wise Up Action', 'Veterans for Peace UK', 'Queer Strike', 'All African Women's Network', 'Women Against Rape', 'PayDay Men's Network', 'London Catholic Worker' and 'OccupyLondon'.

Rally to Free Julian Assange and support the wikileaks website from government persecution arising from Cablegate - the progressive release of 250,000 US diplomatic cables, incombination with major newspapers. Protest gathered on the lawns of State Library in Melbourne at 5.30pm December 14. Julian Assange second bail hearing will soon be heard in a London Court.

The rally heard from Jacob Grech from Victorian Trades Hall, Adam Bandt, member for Melbourne and Assange's elected representative in Federal House of Representatives, a union official from the Media and Entertainment Alliance, Colin Jacobs from the Electronic Frontiers Australia, and Rob Stary, Julian's Australian lawyer.

With over a thousand people at the rally there was a call to march on the British Consulate in Collins Street.

Stop the War "Mass Assembly: Afghanistan - Time to Go!" Trafalgar Square/Downing Street - 08.10.2011

Part Two - The fantastic crowd and participants

To mark the 10th anniversary of the commencement of the disastrous war in Afghanistan, the Stop the War Coalition organised a Mass Assembly in Trafalgar Square on October 8th 2011, drawing around five thousand people from all over the country.

Throughout the afternoon a long list of passionate guest speakers spoke to the crowd, including Wikileaks founder Julian Assange (replete with electronic tag and police minders), investigative journalist John Pilger, musician and composer Brian Eno - who had contributed a soundtrack to the Stop The War video: What is the True Cost of the War in AQfghanistan? which ran on the large video wall above the stage, blogger Sanum Ghafour, Lauren Booth - muslim convert sister-in-law of as-yet unprosecuted war criminal Tony Blair, Labour party icon Tony Benn (President, Stop the War), renegade politician and firebrand George Galloway (Vice-President, Stop the War), Lindsey German (Convenor, Stop the War), outgoing Stop The War chairman Andrew Murray, incoming chairman Jeremey Corbyn MP, Bruce Kent and Kate Hudson from CND, Clare Soloman and many, many others. A great line-up of musicians, rappers and poets also took part, entertaining and educating the crowd and after the last guest speaker had finished the whole crowd upped-sticks and marched the short distance down Whitehall and arrived en masse literally right up against the gates of Downing Street - catching the police completely on the back foot for about 15 minutes - where the assembled crowd jeered and booed at full volume for the next hour and a half whilst a petition was handed in to number 10 Downing Street by the marvellous 104 year old veteran peace campaigner Miss Hetty Bower and Jeremey Corbyn MP. Great fun was had by all!

Despite the chaos and pandemonium and the panic on the faces of the armed police officers on the other side of Fortress Downing Street (where all our blood-drenched war-mongering prime ministers hide from The People), there were no arrests, though one homeless woman did try very hard at the end to get herself arrested so she could score a bed for the night and a couple of hot meals. The police did not oblige her, so she went back hungry to her cold shop doorway to wait for the oncoming Winter to kill her instead.

It seems obscene to me that Her Majesty's Government is happy to currently spend £4.5 billion per year fighting an unwinnable war in Afghanistan, yet we cannot feed and house the homeless in the United Kingdom because, strangely enough, the country is bankrupt. I wonder if there's a connection?

Demonstration outside Quantico Marine Corps Base in Prince William County, Virginia, where whistleblower Bradley Manning (now Chelsea Manning) was being held awaiting trial for alleged leaks of classified material to the operators of the Wikileaks website. The demonstration was held near the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway (US 1), Joplin Road, and Fuller Road in Triangle, Virginia. As with other political demonstrations that I've attended in Virginia, there was a heavy police presence.

The Best of Cablegate: Instances Where Public Discourse Benefited from the Leaks by Rainey Reitman

Description of event

www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=178950392136750

"Since its release of about 2000 diplomatic cables (as of January 7th, 2011), Wikileaks has been subject to extraordinary pressures, seemingly at the behest of the US government. Amazon and EveryDNS have denied Wikileaks internet service and Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, and Bank of America have been prevented supporters from donating money to Wikileaks. This is despite the fact that Wikileaks has not even been charged with a crime.

Unfortunately, the situation has gotten even worse. The press has been spreading lies about Wikileaks. Mainstream media outlets do not appear to be doing even the most rudimentary fact-checking. The most blatant of these lies is the idea that Wikileaks has “indiscriminately dumped 250,000 cables on the internet”. This is flat-out false.

A few news organizations, including NPR and InformationWeek, have corrected this mistake, and NPR has even offered an apology. By contrast, most news organizations ranging from the AP to the Wall Street Journal continue to print this falsehood.

We call upon all news organizations to correct previous articles and statements, to issue apologies to their readers, and to take steps to prevent this mistake from occurring in any future articles and shows.

We will be protesting outside the TransAmerica pyramid, across from a San Francisco office of the New York Times, on Saturday, January 15th, at 4pm. On that day, we will be joining in protesting against the repression of Wikileaks with many others around the world, including Washington, DC, and several cities in Canada and Australia.

To counter the New York Times’s censorship of reality, we plan to publish the released cables on the walls of their building. In addition, participants will be provided cable printouts and markers and encouraged to throw down their artistic abilities by adding a graphic representation of their favorite cable to the Cablegate Coloring Book.

Whistle blower Bradley Manning & Wikileaks supporters rallied at the United States Marine Corps officer recruiting center yesterday in Berkeley California in solidarity with several rallies nationwide and at Ft. Meade Maryland where the young soldier is the subject of a hearing that could have all his charges dismissed based on unlawful pretrial punishment he received at the Quantico Marine Brig facility for nearly 10 months after his arrest.

At the November 27, 2012 hearing the Quantico base commander Col. Daniel Choike revealed in testimony that the military barred or delayed independent analyses of PFC Bradley Manning’s abusive confinement, claiming that Bradley’s defense could “exploit” such a review in the press, and instead sought reviews that would confirm and justify the military’s handling of the young private.

Col. Choike also revealed, near the day’s end, that he didn’t believe from the start that Bradley should have been kept at Quantico. The Marine brig, which had recently been in transition from a post-trial to a pre-trial confinement facility, was meant for short-term detention. Government lawyers told Col. Choike early on that they expected Bradley’s trial to last nearly two years, and Col. Choike told his superiors that he didn’t think Quantico was adequately resourced to hold Bradley for that long, and that Bradley shouldn’t be held there for more than 90 days at most. The military ignored Col. Choike’s qualms, clearly to Bradley’s detriment.

The Berkeley rally was followed by an action that took Shattuck street for several minutes and protesters faced off with police at Shattuck and Addison until a dispersal order was given. No arrests were made.

The hearing is scheduled to last until Sunday and Manning's court martial is set to start on February 4th of 2013.
