Exhibition Review - Pedro de Oraá, Loló Soldevilla, Mario Carreño, Sandú Darié, Luis Martínez Pedro, Alberto Menocal, José Mijares, Rafael Soriano, Pedro Álvarez, Wifredo Arcay, Jose Angel Rosabal: 'Concrete Cuba' David Zwirner, London till Oct 3rd 2015.

I saw paintings of 11 artists,

paintings of boundaries and fracture,

during a time of conflict and censure,

painted with such clarity, and wonder,

of an alternate vision,

of Cuba, a nation,

to outlast all struggle, all dominion. - Drenched Co

Comment: " Perhaps it was a trope of that time to paint these colorful geometrics but I want to see the romance behind these painted shards and dislocated boundaries."- FaSa

Key: The artists wanted abstraction to be more than purely visual, formal concerns. They wanted to engage the collective conscience of Cuba.
