The Lakes of Killarney are a scenic attraction located near Killarney, County Kerry, in Ireland. They consist of three lakes - Lough Leane, Muckross Lake (also called Middle Lake) and Upper Lake. South and west of the town of Killarney in Co. Kerry is an expanse of rugged mountainous country.
This includes the McGillycuddy's Reeks, the highest mountain range in Ireland which rise to a height of over 1000 metres. At the foot of these mountains nestle the world famous lakes of Killarney. Here where the mountains sweep down to the lake shores, their lower slopes covered in woodlands, lies the 10,236 hectare (26,000 acres), Killarney National Park . The distinctive combination of mountains, lakes, woods and waterfalls under ever changing skies gives the area a special scenic beauty.
One last shot of the great sky and light I experienced the other day. This is a wide view of the sky where the beauty just seemed to go on forever. When you come across an opportunity like this you just know it is going to be a good day of shooting.

Floors Castle, in Roxburghshire, south-east Scotland, is the seat of the Duke of Roxburghe. Despite its name it is a country house rather than a fortress. It was built in the 1720s by the architect William Adam for Duke John, possibly incorporating an earlier tower house. In the 19th century it was embellished with turrets and battlements by William Playfair for Duke James. Floors has the common 18th-century layout of a main block with two symmetrical service wings. Floors Castle lies on the River Tweed and overlooks the Cheviot Hills.
Floors Castle is now a category A listed building, and the grounds are listed in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes, the national listing of significant gardens in Scotland. It is open to the public. The castle featured in the 1984 movie Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes.
Back home from a wonderful trip around Scotland.
The last day of the year,
Last sunset,
Last hours…
In anticipation of a new day,
A new year,
A fresh beginning,
I sincerely wish you a New Year full of happiness and prosperity, dear friends.
It has been a tough year here, the situation still ongoing, unfortunately. I hope it ends very soon.
I would like to thank all my genuine friends for their support and understanding. I’m grateful for that.
And, a message to hopeless sinners, who have hurt all mankind just to save their own beliefs.. STOP IT !!!
Try to make some sense of your existence.
If you can’t add any good to this planet, just keep it as is. It’s already a wonderful place!!!
The Cliffs of Moher (Irish: Aillte an Mhothair) are located at the southwestern edge of the Burren region in County Clare, Ireland. They rise 120 metres (390 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag's Head, and reach their maximum height of 214 metres (702 ft) just north of O'Brien's Tower, eight kilometres to the north

Making the case that the underbelly of a bridge can be as enticing as its more glamorous top section - as seen here on the Rhine meadows in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Golden spires reach toward the heavens, crowned by fluttering prayer flags that whisper silent mantras into the sky.
In the shadow of ancient stupas, a quiet figure walks—not just through space, but inward toward peace.
Here, stillness speaks.
This is more than a place.
It is a journey.
A realm where spirit meets sky—and the path to enlightenment begins.

Happy Fence Friday from Blenheim Palace, a monumental country house situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England. It is the principal residence of the dukes of Marlborough, and the only non-royal non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title of palace. The palace, one of England's largest houses, was built between 1705 and circa 1722. Blenheim Palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
The building of the palace was originally intended to be a reward to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, from a grateful nation for the duke's military triumphs against the French and Bavarians during the War of the Spanish Succession, culminating in the 1704 Battle of Blenheim. However, soon after its construction began, the palace was to become the subject of political infighting; this led to Marlborough's exile, the fall from power of his duchess, and lasting damage to the reputation of the architect Sir John Vanbrugh.
Designed in the rare, and short-lived, English Baroque style, architectural appreciation of the palace is as divided today as it was in the 1720s. It is unique in its combined usage as a family home, mausoleum and national monument. The palace is also notable as the birthplace and ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill.
Following the palace's completion, it became the home of the Churchill, later Spencer-Churchill, family for the next 300 years, and various members of the family have in that period wrought changes, in the interiors, park and gardens. At the end of the 19th century, the palace was saved from ruin by funds gained from the 9th Duke of Marlborough's marriage to American railroad heiress Consuelo Vanderbilt. The exterior of the palace remains in good repair.

The forecast was for stormy weather, but I liked the look of the sky, so I decided I'd do a short hike. That stretched into a longer hike as the storm failed to develop. Instead, a mix of light and shadow all morning, and I switched back and forth between macro and landscape work. Here we are gazing into the wild heart of Grasslands. It is possible to cross these buttes, ridges, and dry coulees; I've done it. It takes about five hours. Carry lots of water.
This is the point at which I turned back, or rather, veered off in a wide loop and eventually picked up the trail I had left far behind. For some reason I just love being off-trail; it probably brings back my adventures of 40 years ago, on a small scale. I'm grateful to still have the capacity to do it.
Meanwhile, the clouds put on a show!

For most wildlife photographers the interest is predominantly centered on learning, observing, and documenting interactions. In doing so, however, finding an interesting perspective that allows a photograph to stand out can be difficult. I personally don’t like to put animals at risk, and “the photo” is never my primary goal. I enjoyed using a remote camera while in Yellowstone. I am told, however, that it is a practice that will soon be banned. The reason for this? It has been said that the practice alters the animal’s behavior. In my experience, I must admit that at least half of the bison I photographed changed their behavior. A small percentage run from the camera. An even percentage find it intriguing and approach the camera. The great majority simply walk on by. In either case, the cameras appear to change the animal behavior much less than the automobiles, campers, picnics, and the general presence of people within the parks. Sometimes laws are constructed simply for creating limits without much thought as to how much effect they will ultimately have. #Bison #RemoteCamera #WideAngleView
Fresh snow on the mountain range on the Isle of Mull, viewed from Loch Linnhe, Scotland.
The Isle of Mull is the second largest of the Inner Hebrides.
The day before I trook this photo, the ferry couldn't depart from Oban to Mull due severe weather conditions.
Our intented day-trip to the Isle of Iona via Mull had to be cancelled. At 4 p.m.
the ferry services were running again and we could sail to Mull and arrived at our pre-booked hotel after all.
The next morning the mountains and hills were snow-capped. I took this photo while sailing from Crainure to Oban on the way back from Mull.
The majestic hall of Antwerp Central Station immediately draws you in with its stunning architecture. Captured with a wide-angle lens, the graceful curve of the staircase railing and the strong leading lines tell a story of movement, history, and elegance. A place where perspective is more than just a point of view.

New Year's Day, 2016. Central Park, New York
Bethesda Terrace and Fountain form the northern end of the Central Park Mall, the only formal feature in the park's original blueprint, the Greensward Plan.
Construction of the terrace and fountain occurred during the American Civil War. Only two major structures besides the Bethesda Terrace were completed during the Civil War: the Music Stand and the Casino restaurant, both demolished. By the end of 1861, work on Bethesda Terrace was well underway. The stonework to be installed in the terrace arrived in 1862, and the masonry of the fountain was installed by 1863. In 1864, the stonework of Bethesda Terrace was completed except for minor details, and the Central Park commission hired a sculptor to design the figures for the Fountain. The upper level of the Terrace was mostly built by 1867, by which time the Fountain's figures were being cast in bronze. The Bethesda Fountain was officially completed in 1873.

Die Winter hier sind seit drei Jahrzehnten fast schneefrei. Ich habe dieses Jahr die einzige Gelegenheit genutzt, bei uns eine Winterlandschaft zu fotografieren.
Winters here have been almost snow-free for three decades. This year I used the only opportunity to photograph a winter landscape here.
