This is my fourth tribute to my favorite Broadway musical "Wicked". In fact, this is a tribute to its film adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The film turned out to be a PERFECT adaptation of the first act of the musical, so I highly recommend to watch it. :)

Since I already built everyone's favorite scene (Defying Gravity) a few years ago, I decided to make a poster, because I like it so much. I don't have any "Wicked" sets yet, so my own Glinda and Elphaba made a comeback. I'm so sorry, I forgot to stick tiara to Glinda's head, it was ready on the table, but when I took pictures I just forgot... I also tried to make the Emerald City glow like I did for Zelena's iconic scene, but it wasn't as noticeable against the light background. Anyway, I hope you'll like it! :)

so, given my profession, i'm not one to dress up on halloween.

but this year, i made an exception.

this is dedicated to my dear flickr friend, Amanda, who is a big fan of the musical, "Wicked".

Freja was actually letting me take a bunch of shots of her the other day, which is rare. I couldn't resist taking a few of my brother, Shawn with her, as Freja is IN LOVE with him! She turns herself inside out to get his attention and won't take no for an answer when he doesn't feel like petting her! Shawn isn't a "cat person", but Freja has wormed her way into his heart! He can't help but love her when she's so enraptured by him.

In the left corner is my Wizard of Oz cuckoo clock. I love the 1939 children's movie masterpiece, and I got this clock a couple of years back when I first saw it. The "cuckoo" is actually Toto, Dorothy's dog, barking, and it's kind of annoying, especially when I can hear him barking all night from my bedroom, so I've turned him off, but I still enjoy the clock and have been amazed that my cats haven't attacked the faux pendulum more than once or twice.

Today is my brother's 55th birthday. He called it a "double nickel". Happy Birthday to my little 6'3 1/2" brother!

Southern California's 2009 wildfire season kicked off today with this behemoth in Northern LA County.

The Station Fire (August 26 – October 16) burned 251 sq mi (64,983 ha) and destroyed 209 structures, including 89 homes. It started in the Angeles National Forest near the U.S. Forest Service ranger station on the Angeles Crest Highway (California State Highway 2). Two firefighters were killed on August 30 when their truck plunged off a mountain road while they were attempting to escape the fast moving flames.

At 160,557 acres, the Station Fire is the largest wildfire in the modern history of Los Angeles County.

Today I went to see Wicked with my mom.

I had to get up early to take these pictures in the park. I changed dresses right there in the park because I didn't want to have to move and re-set my camera.

Let me tell you about the moment of panic that ensued when I started to think my back muscles had grown too big for the pink dress, and I was half nekkid in Easter Sunday pedestrian traffic.

...Luckily it was just the zipper pulling pranks.

This is my second tribute (here's the first) to one of my all-time favorite TV series - "Once Upon a Time", a story about a modern city where everyone actually is a fairytale character, with a lot of twists, cliffhangers, magic and drama. I hope to build eventually all of my favorite characters from OUAT as the minifigures, but this project will take much time so stay tuned.

SPOILER ALERT!

This is a tribute to Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West (also known as Kelly West in Storybrooke). When I watched seasons 1-4 back in 2014, for a long time I disliked her - she was trying to kill my other favorite characters, and I don't mean just Emma (every villain is after the Savior, after all), no, I was extremely pissed off because she made Rumplestiltskin her pawn (poor Belle! poor Neal!), and she was trying to destroy the happiness of her sister Regina/the Evil Queen. But in later seasons, which I finally watched this year, Zelena become more sympathetic and complicated character, and as long as she started to be good to Regina, I immediately started rooting for her to become the next redeemed villainess. I was so happy when they finally become the real sisters to each other and also made peace with their mother (who was another villainess), it was an wholesome moment, one of the highlights of the season.

Also when she was evil I was creeped out by her attempts to seduce Robin Hood, and hated her when she finally succeded, and I was not a fan of this plot of "Wicked Witch wants a baby", so initially I disliked the baby as well, but then it turned out other evil forces are coming for that baby, and good characters were still mad at Zelena for what she did, so I was worried for them. Luckily, the later seasons included some time-lapse, so the next time we'll see baby Robin she's a late teenager, and she's cool! Totally not a wasted character! :)

For the character tributes I decided to pick a few (best) songs from the episode, where in the past the wish upon a star accidentally made everyone in the Enchanted forest to sing (and it was both hilarious and epic). Zelena's song is something really worth to listen - she sings about watching the sufferings of her sister, but she sings it SO HAPILLY, like it's a Broadway-type song of wanting to go at the prom or something like that. xD Also she scared the hell out of Munchkins during this one (without even interrupting her happy singing!), and it was HILARIOUS!

Also, for context, she meant that Rumplestiltskin was going to teach her as his best apprentice, but he chose Regina instead (despite the fact that Zelena is actually more powerful), and her mother also made Regina, the younger daughter, the heir, and not an abandoned older daughter Zelena. No wonder poor Zelena was feeling so alone the whole life and taking such great length to be loved... But as I said, it turned out well in the end, she was finally happy with her sister and her daughter Robin. :)

The Wicked Witch of the West was the first A-100 Audio-Animatronics figure in the Disney parks, making it's debut as part of The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The A-100 has technology that gives the figures more fluid and realistic movements, making it the most life-like figure in the attraction.

I'm glad they did such a good job on the Wizard of Oz part of the attraction. It's my favorite movie of all time!

This girl is the vintage style Wicked Witch of the West doll by Bill Greening from 2010 #T2152

I have always loved witches for as long as I can remember. I remember I use to draw them all the time when I was in kindergarten. Don't ask me why I like them so much as I have no clue :P

Please have a go at guessing where I am going tomorrow :D

Elphaba was my first (and is currently my only) full body repaint custom. She also has had a boob job, since I was painting over them anyway. :)
