Who Hears The Hoot
Waking up early morns
We hear the Whoo’s & Hoots!
Some owls howl,
Some owls hoot,
Some owls screech,
Some owls toot!
All owls blink
With big round eyes.
People say
That owls are wise!
But I don’t think
That is so true.
For all they say
Is WHOO! WHOO! WHOO!

Despite it's name this gull is quite rare in most parts of the UK.
Fortunately on the west coast of Scotland we have them in abundance.

Many thanks to all those who take the time to comment on my photos. It is truly appreciated.

One of my green leprechaun buddies checking out so movement off in the distance. Likely wondering if the fishing on the other side of the bayou without the clown in the canoe bothering him. Green Heron photographed on Horsepen Bayou.

I turned aimlessly into a business park near us and was astounded by all of the wildflower Black Eyed Susans (Rudbeckia) lining the street and ditches for a long way. I have never seen a profusion like this.
There was no way to get a photo of the whole thing in the otherwise bland environment, but I got this one looking down into a ditch from a higher spot.
A more nimble person could probably do well by getting right down into he ditch, but that isn't an option for me these days,
I think I stacked 4 photos to get it as sharp as I did, but the wind didn't help my efforts. However, I don't mind the falloff toward the back.

Who can resist a 'road' shot on the approach to Glencoe? It's got a hint of Hindu Kush about it! There was a faint dusting of snow on some of the tops this afternoon. Who can't be impressed by the magnificence of this landscape?
These lights are going to be one of the most photographed thing during the Olympics.
It is memsermizing to watch. They can be seen 50km away from English Bay in Vancouver.
I am off for a very long day of work, so I might be too tired when I get home to catch up.
We will see.
Have a great day everyone.
I don't have time to do any post work on them right now.
When a sunrise sky pops up at the end of my garden it would be rude not to take a couple of shots.
No exotic location just a shot over gardens, I cloned out a rooftop and and some distant cables to make a more pleasing image.
On the same day as I shot this I went out to Worthing pier to shoot the sunset, I had been watching the clouds all day, so when 6 pm came around with sunset at 6.45 I headed out to shoot a cracking good sky. which I`ll show tomorrow. I
t`s been a long time since I shot both ends of the day .
Apparently of all avian 's only Eagles don't look over their shoulder before they attack
Why would they?
However the fastest living thing on the planet (Peregrine Falcon) likes to keep an 'eye' on things
Even that annoying camera man!
While walking along the trail that goes between Baum and Crystal Lakes in Shasta County California I spotted this osprey in a rather unusual spot, low in a small tree. Normally, when I see them perched in that area it’s higher up and overlooking the water as they scan looking for a fish to grab. In this spot there wasn’t even any visible water the bird could see in to so I guess it just decided it was a good place to rest a while, at least until some goofy guy came strolling along, when it was time to move into dirty look mode.

Who knew? Google knew.
The Lazuli Bunting has increased its range in Canada since the late 1960s, spreading north from the Thompson Valley into the valleys of the Cariboo-Chilcotin Plateau of central British Columbia

A humble little Male Chaffinch in all his glory, one of the UK's most common little birds, and close up, one of our prettiest. Fringilla coelebs, taken in Abbots wood, East sussex UK recently.
