♫ Carla Thomas - Gee Whiz, It's Christmas ♫
Hello there, Merry Christmas, how've you been?
It's so good to talk to you again
It's been a long long time
Can't explain why you crossed my mind
I guess it's just to wish you a Merry Christmas
My best friend's having a party
And everybody's going
I know it's gonna be a lot of fun
Oh, by the way, it's snowing
It's been a long long time
Can't explain why you crossed my mind
I guess it's just to say gee whiz it's Christmas
It's funny that I haven't thought to call you before
And why is it I haven't seen you around anymore?
Another year has passed and I can't erase
The memory of your smiling face
So I have to call you up and say
Gee whiz, it's Christmas
So don't forget the party that we're throwing
The warm fires of the fireplace will be glowing
It's been a long long time
Still can't figure out why you crossed my mind
I guess it's just to say, gee whiz, it's Christmas
I'm wishing you a merry, have a merry, merry Christmas
Gee whiz, have a merry, merry, merry...
In 1955, Ford had difficulty naming this car. Among the 5,000 suggested names were Hep Cat, Beaver, Detroiter, Runabout, Arcturus, Savile, El Tigre and Coronado. One serious suggestion was Whizzer.
Not having a name for their two-seater sports car, Ford ran a competition within its company to name their two-seater, with the prize – a $250 suit. The name, Thunderbird, came from a Ford stylist from the Southwest, Alden “Gib” Giberson, who submitted the Thunderbird name after having coffee one morning seeing a drawing of a two-headed bird on his cup.
His submission was a reference to a legendary Indian creature, a supernatural bird with great power and strength. Although winning, at the time you could not find a $250 suit in Detroit so Alden was happy to settle with a $95 suit and two pairs of pants.
In Native American mythology, the Thunderbird creates thunder and lightning. Many different tribes of the American Southwest, Great Plains, and Pacific Northwest have their own version of the Thunderbird, including the Lakota, the Ojibwa, and the Sioux.

Black shadow hangin' over your shoulder
Black mark up against your name
Your green eyes couldn't get any colder
There's bad poison runnin' through your veins
Evil walks behind you
Evil sleeps beside you
Evil talks around you
Evil walks behind you

Whizzer bicycle engines are a line of bicycle engines that were produced in the United States from 1939 to 1965. They were commonly sold as kits to be assembled and attached to a consumer's bicycle thus creating a motorized bicycle. One of the last burger stands in San Francisco. The place is super photogenic and they have a killer neon sign (I'm a sucker for cool, old neon signs)

Trees whiz past the back of the caboose on the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad passenger train as it makes its way north just a couple of miles south of Mountainburg, AR on a cloudy Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Cars whiz along as they approach Burrard Bridge (sometimes referred to as the Burrard Street Bridge). The bridge is a five-lane, Art Deco style, steel truss bridge constructed in 1930-1932 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The high, five part bridge on four piers spans False Creek, connecting downtown Vancouver with Kitsilano via connections to Burrard Street on both ends. It is one of three bridges crossing False Creek.
These may look like Penn Central or PRR units, but that lead GG1 is wearing a three digit Amtrak number that reflects its real ownership!

Laguna Beach, California-- A Whizzer Motorbike decorates the inside of a Ruby's Restaurant. When I was a young boy I recall seeing these on the streets.

The instructor, Ms Jee whiz (yes, that is her flickr name) is a bit late, but then she lives 3 hours to the west, but that's no excuse.

... ok, the contents of the containers may not be Whiz-pops, but being a military train it is impossible to say exactly what was inside these characteristic side-door ISO containers.
MOD trains have been a consistent part of the railway scene in South-Central England for decades: even in 2017 occasional traffic to Marchwood continued to operate. In my chosen morning in 1995, a worn 47296 provides motive power for 4O13, the 0615 Didcot to Marchwood.
The Marchwood train often consisted of a varied load, including vehicles, open wagons conveying bits and pieces, vans and increasingly, containers. Comparatively, on this day I captured a 'bad' load, in that it wasn't very varied: the return consisted of only VDA and VGA vans.
My visit on this Tuesday was deliberate: despite the heavy frost, this was in the week before British Summer Time began and consequently, the sun was further round than would be the case 7 days later.
