"The Whizzer bicycle engine was first produced in 1939 by Breene-Taylor Engineering, a Los Angeles-based manufacturer of airplane parts. By 1942, sales of the engines had not been entirely successful, having sold only about 2500 units. The Whizzer operation was then sold to Dietrich Kohlsatt and Martin Goldman.

By 1943, World War II was well underway, and Whizzer Motors were forced to lobby the United States Government for the right to continue production of what was argued to be a great way for defense workers to travel to and from work.

In 1948, Whizzer sold its first pre-assembled motorized bicycle, the "Pacemaker".

Whizzer motorcycle engines would cease to be produced in 1965 due to the increasingly competitive bicycle engine market." Wiki

Whizzer and Chips.

A dinnertime wander across to our Holgate Engineering Works reveals D1023 WESTERN FUSILIER awaiting onward road transport to GWS Didcot.

I saw my first Western on Swindon Works on my first visit in August 1982 and here Holgate Works does its best to try to double as one of those iconic Swindon workshops.

And the chips? Well who doesn't enjoy a chip barm for dinner? That came next.

Good morning, everyone!. All fixed. A 16 year old whiz-kid named Daniel came over & moved through my computer like he was a magician. Didn't have to buy a new one. The virus was in the software & everything has been replaced. Awe-inspiring to take in this young man"s computer talent & skill!. I'm happy to be back on track. And look forward to seeing your uploads of the last couple of days. Wishing you all a great week!

The pic's one I pulled from the files to play in picnik. Taken in the Cusco area, it's one of my faves from an awesome trip to South America a couple of years ago. Llamas & vicunas are as important in Peru today as they were in the Inca period 500 years ago. They are the mainstay of rural economy, as 'beasts of burden' & for their wool.

So this one starts off with a homeless kid standing outside of a subway trying to make a penny selling newspapers, when some creep dressed like the Spy vs Spy guys and he's all like “he kid why are you out here being homeless? Follow me instead!”

So without his stranger-danger alarm going off, Billy's like “sure man... this is weird but okay”

The two go down into the subway and catch a train that looks like something off of a Jefferson Starship cover. The two then take the train to the end of the line in some spooky lookin cave with stalactites and crap.

The shadow dude is like “okay man, in here” and leads him to this really long hallway with some goofy lookin statues on one side, and an old hobo with an ominous block of stone attached to a string above his head.

The hobo is like “yo Billy I'm a wizard! Check it!” and after shouting a goofy made up word, there's some special effects and some writing appears on the wall behind him. Turns out the goofy word is the hobo's name and spells out a whole bunch of other goofy names and Billy is all like

“...dang”

Then the wizard hobo is like “okay check out this TV” and does a little golf clap and his 'Historama' appears to show Billy his past and the Wizard is like “yeah so I've been creeping on you, uh anyway, if you say my goofy name, you can be Superma- Uh I mean Captain Marvel! Yeah!”

So Billy says the name and that omonus stone block falls and in a flash of light, Billy's on The Street... again. Billy on The Street. (I unintentionally made a reference to a thing and I don't like it)

The next day, Billy is still homeless and still broke, so he goes back to selling papers after his weird drug trip. Anyway, during his relapse, these two goons come up and are all like “hey the papers are talking about our boss, the bad guy of this book, remember? The Villain! ...No?” and Billy's like “What?” and the crooks are like “What? Okay bye”

So he tails them them to a swanky apartment building but he can't get in, so instead he goes to the radio station and gets past the radio door man and busts into the radio president's office and is like “yo radio man, I saw some dudes go into a place!”

President Radio is like “uh cool kid, go get some news I guess and I'll give you a job so you won't be homeless anymore”

So that night billy takes the elevator to the top of the building across from the apartments, says the hobo wizard's name, turns into a superhero, leaps across to the other building, overhears the goons talking to a goggle-wearing scientist talking trash and demanding a “$50,000,000” ransom or he'll “Destroy Radio” (legit fifty million to obliterate radio waves or something... to be honest it's pretty vague) (also talk about exposition... geez I could almost drown in it)

Anyway SuperBilly crashes in and throws one of the goons directly into the radio destroying machine, destroying it. Then grabs the cables of the elevator the other goon escaped in, pulling it up and beats the crap out of him.

After he ties them both up, this impish pointy eared scientist is all like, “We'll meet again even though it feels like we just met” to which Billy responds “Oh yeah, well you'll be in jail! Or dead!” and like a crazy murderous child, Billy says the magic hobo word and turns back into a homeless kid again, presumably right in front of those goons. He then calls up Mr President Radio guy and is like “hey so you know how I had nothing to go on, well turns out there were these three guys and they wanted to 'destory radio' or something, anyway, can I have a job now?” then Radio is like “Uh what? Oh right I did say that didn't I? Sure I guess” and Billy is all like “Yuussss! No longer a bum!”

THE EHND!

(I was being really harsh on this one but really, it's not that bad! You should really go and read it if you enjoy Billy Batson as much as I do! It was a total blast to re-read and poke fun at the story after so long! I enjoyed it just as much all over again!) :P

Here I am holding a frame with three pictures of me and my two best friends since high school. We've known each other for 55 years and still hang out. We were all at each others weddings as either groomsmen or best men. These pictures were all taken mid-1970s.

In the framed pictures (which I admit I photoshopped in a frame

I have lying around) from left is Gord, Me and Brian.

Gord is the science guy and one of the smartest people I know. He recently built a super computer because he couldn't find one powerful enough to do his music animations.

Next is me, I was the arty, history, politics guy, the one who joined the NDP (Canada's left wing party) in my first year of uni. I have a combined degree in politics and fine art.

Brian is a whiz at maths and was also the school star athlete, playing hockey, North American football as the school Quarterback and track and field. He always had the best stereo equipment of the three of us!

The album cover is the third album by British prog rock band Gentle Giant, generally considered one of the most innovative bands of all time. All of us loved the band (Gord and I saw them four times, Brian six times) so I thought it apt to include their album called Three Friends.

We're Here looks at Friends today. (I resisted the urge to reference the often over-used The Three Amigos movie.
