In the deep fall
don’t you imagine the leaves think how
comfortable it will be to touch
the earth instead of the
nothingness of air and the endless
freshets of wind? And don’t you think
the trees themselves, especially those with mossy,
warm caves, begin to think
of the birds that will come — six, a dozen — to sleep
inside their bodies? And don’t you hear
the goldenrod whispering goodbye,
the everlasting being crowned with the first
tuffets of snow? The pond
vanishes, and the white field over which
the fox runs so quickly brings out
its blue shadows. And the wind pumps its
bellows. And at evening especially,
the piled firewood shifts a little,
longing to be on its way.

The Elephant Whispers experience near Hazyview in South Africa, allows visitors to touch, exchange trunk greetings and offer tasty treats to tame and trained elephants ranging in age from nine to twenty six years.
This pachyderm was putty in my skilled hands (as you may well imagine). Her skin was so soft to the touch, I felt very privileged to share a a fleeting moment with her.

This is a bit different for me, these grasses was found in Kew Gardens and they were swaying in the breeze, so I turned it into a kind of abstract!
Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi 'Variegata' (Variegated Lavender Scallops) - A small shrubby succulent that grows to 1 to 2 feet tall with stems that spread out and root along the ground to form large colonies with thick and fleshy lavender gray-green leaves with a cream colored variegation along the scalloped leaf margins.
The specific epithet “fedtschenkoi” honors Rusian botanist Boris A. Fedtschenko (1873-1947), who was director of the Imperial Botanic Garden at St. Petersberg.
Dedicated macro lens. No crop, no post processing. My back porch. Potted plant.
I overhead a fellow shutterbug talking with her son and he was telling her that he knew the fog was going to be good Sunday.
She jokingly called him a fog whisper.
