My parents' cat Ghost is sitting here to remind all of us that in past Christmases you probably made a grave error and didn't snuggle your cats enough!

This catman was ok with me taking his portrait but his cat was on the fence. There were just more fascinating things to look at .... Happy Whisker Wednesday everyone!

I told Shadow that some people in the world don't like cats and he was very displeased. "How is that even possible?" he guffawed! This could not be true! Then, I told him he had already had enough catnip for the day and he got really mad.

Don't let your cats get into your package ribbons...they could get really sick! I have to be careful when playing with them to make sure they don't chew and swallow too much! Happy Whisker Wednesday everyone!

Linus proudly presents his lovely whiskers. Only two or three are slightly out of shape, not too bad for a young and wild cat. Linus even stood still for a short moment, quite a miracle, especially as I interrupted his bug hunting activities. :)
Only those who are famous will understand the grueling life Jarvis Cocker might lead in his very own home. He has to deal with constantly being adored and a violation of space. He is instantly recognizable in his own home whether he happens to be roaming through the kitchen for treats, lounging in is living room, or taking over every inch of bed space possible. His owners are caressing and kissing him incessantly, acknowledging no physical boundaries whatsoever that he might have. He has to sleep 23 hours each day just to still look so handsome. The pressure is on! Because of this, he must get into the drug of choice for cats everywhere, catnip! He hits it hard, rolling around in the nip as if he could banish the weight of the world. And, then, things don’t seem so bad anymore afterwards. We can hardly fault him for this indulgence, especially on his 6th birthday!

There are 6.5 billion people in the world and 42.79 billion cats. That means, approximately, 737 billion cat photos are uploaded to Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, Dokonoko, random blogs, and last but not least Flickr each day. Every second, millions of cat photos join the internet ranks to be favorited and adored. Let's not even get into all of the Youtube videos. By the time you finish reading this, there will be another few million cat related media files to go through and you'll never catch up! How will you get any work done today? How will you spend time with your family and friends? How will you read the news or get any exercise? How will you experience the non-cat related outside world?
Do we really need all of the endless streams of cat photos and videos? And...if so, why? Is it so that we can console ourselves when Donald Trump says another stupid thing? Is it so that when we see senseless violence, we can have a moment of happiness even if we are feeling forever scarred? Is it because, even if we are in extreme pain, the sight of a cat fills us with such glee that it makes everything a little better for the moment?. And, even if the world truly is a cold, dead place we can find solace in our adorable furball overlords?

Above: One of my two lovely cats, PJ Harvey and, if you look at my favorite photos, so many of them are cats. ^ ^
A (silly but true) Poem for Cats:
I was depressed and you knew me so well you comforted me.
You licked away my falling tears and warmed my cold muscles.
Your fur tickled my face and arms.
Your purr made my breaths deeper and stronger.
My heart was filled with a great joy because I had a friend who would never judge me.
Between episodes, I wanted to share one of my favorite portraits of Kal. In this image, his eyes retreat into shadow, letting the texture of his fur and the quiet strenght of his expression speak for him. A different kind of presence, yet unmistakably Kal.

from Hann, who is convinced his whiskers have grown since last week!? He is getting his winter coat, maybe their whiskers get longer for winter too.. :-)
This photo screams "post me on Whisker Wednesday" ! The ghost kitty has some quite crazy whiskers and when I took this shot the whiskers looked even wilder than usual as they reflected his excitement about some pigeons on the roof of the house next door.
I haven't taken a definite decision about a name for him yet. At the moment I fancy calling him Nanuq which is the Inuit word for polar bear. Ghost kitty looks quite "reddish" in photos but in fact he is almost white. He has quite huge polar bear paws too. The agreement with the rescue centre is that I only have to decide whether I want to keep him by mid January. It's very likely that he will stay, though, as he gets along well with Fynn and Cleo tolerates him without too much grumbling.

I am FINALLY beginning to feel better day by day, Unfortunately I shared my germs with Mom and she is now sick.
I will slowly begin to return to Flickr. Thanks for your patience.
I have also decided to make fitness at my gym with my trainer as a priority until I go back to work. I will try to go 4-6 times a week.
****News***..... I return to work in less than a month AND Ron will be having his enlarged neck lymph glands biopsied and removed for a tissue/disease diagnosis Feb 25th.
Finally some progress!!!
He is being followed by a neurologist, oncologist and ENT surgeon.
I will be on when I have free time as I am also helping Ron out with "medical stuff," and appointments, and sometimes staying over with him. He has many pre-tests to be driven too.
I have missed you all so much. I can't possibly catch up but will start from now, slowly.
Sorry I have just been putting faves and not really commenting as I had no energy and headaches when on here too long.
You are the best flickr friends anyone can have.
Thank you. I feel very blessed, for each and every one of you.
Bailey wanted some flickr time.
HWW.
Have a good day. I'm off to physio now....

Rusty got his second [and last] Lion's cut for the summer last weekend. I guess Lion Cut haircut is controversial.
Our groomer said they will not do a Lion's Cut on most dogs [unless they have a severe matting problem] as they have found that some breeds get hotter w/out their long thick coat in the summer.
Also was told that some dogs grow back their cut fur faster and thicker or some pets don't ever grow back their fur normally once it's cut. Not sure if it's the same w/ cats.
I was shocked to know all this. Especially since Rusty always seems perkier / happier with his summer cut and his fur always grows back normally. We wouldn't do it otherwise.
Another shot below.
