This week's #ResidentofEIU is Shona Coleman, from Edison Park, Chicago, IL. She is working on her Masters in History and hopes to work in museum curation!
She was nominated for her involvement in #WellerHall Council by helping with their ROC-Fest window display and creating many fun activities with the executive board. Shona went more into depth about what she has done for Weller Hall Council from holding different positions, VP and Publication, and the boat race, which has been her "baby" for the past 5 1/2 years. They placed 3rd this year for the boat race! She has been involved with helping out the theatre productions, working on homecoming, and working special events at the REC Center over the years.
When asked what she likes about living on-campus, she responded, "Being in Weller, I am right next to my classes and the library. Everything a historian really needs. Living on campus has allowed me to meet new people from different backgrounds every year." Her most memorable moment at EIU has been when Shona portrayed Anne Bonny, a famous pirate, to teach kids in the community about pirate life at the Living History Program.
Shona has some great advice for #Futurepanthers, saying "Don't hide away!" Shona explained that your friends are out there waiting for you to meet them at one of the involvements offered at EIU! Shona also added, "Most of all, remember your not the only one who's a freshmen, everyone is in the same boat as you."
Shona, you are an amazing addition to the #EIUfamily and we congratulate you on being this week's ROE. Keep up the hard work. We look forward to seeing you gain more experiences and successes while with us!

#EIUFamily, it is that time of the week once more!
Meet Fatima Estrada from Chicago, IL, our #ResidentOfEIU of the week. Fatima is studying Sociology and Criminology for right now, but she does not know which one she will get a degree in, yet.
She is involved in the council of her hall, #WellerHall, as their secretary. She also used to be the RHA representative for Weller Hall and is a member of EIU Pride. Fatima likes being involved since it allows her to meet new people from different backgrounds and learn more about themselves.
When we asked her why she lived on campus, she said, “living on campus has greatly impacted my college experience.” She also said, “by living on campus I have been able to get more involved with RSO’s and creating many friendships. My favorite part about living on campus is the fact that I was able to meet my best friend, my roommate Beth.” Fatima also advises #FututePanthers to not be scared to try things out of their comfort zone. “Don't be scared to express yourself, EIU is a safe and welcoming place.”
Congratulations, Fatima, on being recognized as this week’s #ROE. We hope you have more amazing experience on campus and meet plenty of people on campus!
